  1. So the Michigan guys who abused Latham are better than Watt and Garrett? Maybe we should pick them then.
  2. Someone quicker who can stay in front of them. The tackle may get overpowered by them but that takes longer than just dipping a shoulder. Lose slow, not quick.
  3. Bengals won't let Higgins just walk away. And aren't likely to trade him after a tag either. We should stay far away from Gabe Davis and let some other team overpay him. Assuming we tag Tee, Boyd leaves and Irwin re-signs, we could draft a WR but it doesn't need to be a high priority. If Tee leaves next offseason, then it's a bigger need but every year the draft has good receivers as most colleges run spread offenses now.
  4. Latham is too slow imo. He looks like another of Alabama's maxed out players, sort of like Evan Neal or Chase Warmack. Guys like TJ Watt or Myles Garrett would eat Latham for breakfast.
  5. Fields didn't have much of a chance in Chicago. It was only this past season they got him a WR1 and added a good RT. But they'll probably draft Caleb Williams and move Fields for what they can get. He did have a lot of turnovers and bad reads. On the other hand, he has all the tools you might want and is a good character guy. So somebody will give him a second chance. Wilson was bad in 2022 but actually played pretty well in 2023. He's lost a step and isn't a physical specimen. But he's smart and can run an offense. The Denver GM should be fired for the Wilson trade, the Wilson contract, and the Hackett hire. But Wilson can get an otherwise talented team to the playoffs so that makes him attractive to a number of teams. He's getting 39 mil from Denver (subject to offset) so he'll work cheap in 2024 if he gets guaranteed money for 2025 and beyond.
  6. Assistant coaches make more than PS guys. He probably helped with coaching the Active roster guys anyway. Why wouldn't he take the job if offered? If he were offered an active roster spot himself by the Bengals or another team, that would pay more than the coaching gig but if it didn't happen last year, it's not likely this season as he's another year older.
  7. Pass blocking. You'd think with Brown and Volson on our line, we could be a good left handed rushing team like we were in the 80s. But no.
  8. Bengals are going all-in for 2024 before Burrow and Chase's contracts grow large. Letting Bell go was a terrible mistake that we haven't recovered from yet. We need Hill and Battle to play at a high level this season, not in 3 years if we want to win the Super Bowl. Also need CTB and Turner to step up too. Our secondary was not good last year.
  9. Jay Morrison is pretty plugged in to the team and thinks the Bengals will cut Mixon.
  10. Hill and Battle are a big step down from Bates and Bell. The rest of the defense will have to step up but at the moment we don't have much in the run stopping department either.
  11. Dehner's article today showed the Bengals were elite when all 3 of Burrow, Chase, and Higgins were healthy. But that was only for 121 snaps last season. It dogs Higgins on his snap counts played over his career.
  12. If he wants playing time, the UFL would no doubt welcome him. If he wants to stay in the NFL, the Bengals should at least offer him a contract. We aren't likely to carry 3 QBs on the 53 man roster but if there's any chance of trading Browning or Burrow getting his annual preseason injury, we should have AJ on speed dial. He's probably better than Trevor Siemien.
  13. Tee isn't better than any of those guys. They've all been pro-bowlers or All-Pros as well. Tee would be WR1 on several teams so it's a competitive advantage for the Bengals to have in effect 2 WR1s but nobody thinks Tee is better than Ja'Marr.
  14. Yes, the Bengals won't pursue Chris Jones. He'd be more of a replacement for Hill than Reader anyway. Depending on when Reader can return, the team may re-sign him at a discount or may go after another similarly priced vet coming off his rookie deal.
  15. What makes anyone think Lawrence is a top 10 QB? The Jags will probably exercise his 5th year option but he's been disappointing thus far in his career.
  16. Yes, most teams don't carry fullbacks and use TEs (or even sometimes linemen) in short yardage situation for an extra blocker in the backfield. Ben Sinnot of Kansas State is a good H-back prospect for day 3. Isn't Will Dissly of the Seahawks also a free agent?
  17. It's 2 first round picks if a team signs someone else's franchise tagged player and the other team doesn't match the contract. There was speculation last year that some team would come up with a contract structure that the Ravens couldn't match so they could sign Lamar. But teams don't want to risk giving up 2 first round picks so the last time it happened was for DE Sean Gilbert, Darrelle Revis's uncle. That was a long time ago.
  18. So why isn't he offering KC a hometown discount? Brown gave us one with his 16 mil avg. Jones seems to be looking for top of the market pay.
  19. I see you're still stuck on stupid. You probably thought Jamarcus Russell and Ryan Leaf would be great NFL QBs. You can go to NFL.com and sort the passing stats yourself but I've done the work for you. Everyone has an opinion, let's look at actual results. Here are first year starters from 2023. Most are rookie but Browning and Love are included. Here is Browning compared to some other prominent QBs. He doesn't look out of place there does, he? But nobody would give up more than a 6th for that level of production according to you. Here he is Browning compared to the last 5 QBs taken as the #1 overall pick. Hm. Your insistence that no other NFL team would give more than a late round pick for Browning doesn't seem to have much basis in reality.
  20. My guess is the Chiefs let Jones go. They'll try to keep Sneed but also need to upgrade their offensive tackles. Then they'll just hope some of their younger WRs turn out to be good.
  21. Bengals missed their chance to fleece the Titans last year. They won't give up pick 7 for Tee. Last year they were begging us to trade our first round pick to them so they could take Levis. We could have had their 2nd and 3rd last year plus their 2nd this year. We wouldn't have Murphy but could have had Dawand Jones and Darnell Washington plus a good player with their early 2nd in 2024.
  22. For what it's worth, Spotrac forecasts Boyd getting 8.7 mil per year on a 3 year deal. PFF predicts 8.75 APY on a 2 year deal. The Bears or Chiefs or Patriots would all make sense for Boyd and he'll have multiple offers.
  23. Running back is a young man's position. We should cut Mixon for both cap and production reasons, make Brown our lead RB. Re-signing Williams makes sense given his low mileage but we should expect to find our next RB in the draft. If we sign a vet RB, it should be someone with some upside, not very expensive, and on a short deal. In other words if someone with high expectations in free agency gets passed over, then we could offer a 2 year deal at 6 mil per for Swift or Barkley or Jacobs. But I'd prefer to use the money at another position.
  24. Yeah, Tee is just being nice to the local media back home. Of course the Titans would pursue him if he weren't tagged but they aren't going to give up the 7th pick for him either after he is tagged.
