Duke Tobin Gives Blunt Response When Asked About Jermaine Burton: 'He's Done Nothing'
Who is this "utility knife" TE? The one with the injury history that then lasted all of about 5 snaps before being once again injured so badly he's going to miss next season, too? It sucks because I thought he looked really good but "utility knife" come the fuck on. He's done. He's not even a toothpick. And let's maybe go back more than one draft... I think there were other players in the 3rd round at different positions that would've been helpful last year and weren't dumb asses. That's what the fuck I'm talking about. Why the fuck are you defending literally every facet of this team not named Volson? It's weird.

I would make a joke about his biggest accomplishment during his first term being 3 strokes off his handicap, but he cheats at golf too...

Duke Tobin Gives Blunt Response When Asked About Jermaine Burton: 'He's Done Nothing'
You're claiming the Bengals recent drafts have been on par with the NFL as a whole? If that's the case why are all these other teams wasting money on scouting departments? If only there was a 3rd option, like a top talent WR that isn't a dumbass.. Or even a 2nd tier talent that isn't a dumbass... Nah let's keep buying scratch offs.. Somebody's got to win, right? Sorry but I'm not buying this narrative from the team where winning is basically a matter of dumb luck and nothing at all could be done to improve how they do things.

I liked Housh's game a lot but he was definitely a hot-head that complained to the refs more than most.

That water he "turned on" just ran into the ocean and accomplished nothing. https://www.latimes.com/environment/story/2025-01-31/trump-california-dams-opened-up Edit: it may have accomplished higher citrus prices coming from the San Joaquin valley in a few months, if my geography is correct.

Can't argue the facts so you call it "liberal" and dismiss it. This seems to be a pattern.

Economics Thread
All the tariffs in the world won't encourage people to buy American bananas. I doubt there are very many companies in the US manufacturing anything without some kind of foreign product in the supply chain. Our infrastructure is pathetic and Trump's reaponse to something like avian flu is to order scientists to stop talking about it. It would be great if we didn't import everything but we don't have the capability right now and hopefully we don't want to go back to sweatshops operated by children. (Not so sure about that last part, I mean, these won't be white children will they?) Expecting a guy to fix it whose idea of good business is selling unfinished penthouses to Russian mobsters for, yknow, reasons... Probably not gonna happen.

It's got nothing to do with China https://www.the-independent.com/news/world/americas/us-politics/trump-panama-canal-hotel-lawsuit-history-b2669911.html All these bankrupted hotels, casinos, & other development projects he's been involved in over the decades are classic money laundering schemes. Roy Cohn mentored Trump and introduced him to the NYC mob bosses. Huge influence on what he's become.

I think it's more maintaining a steady & safe income so they can go on living the lifestyle they're accustomed to indefinitely. They could certainly make more money by fielding a consistent winner and staying in Super Bowl contention, but that comes with some amount of risk. They've got no other source of income to sustain them and families tend to grow exponentially each generation. It makes them extremely risk averse and resistant to change.

Of course not, dude is obviously down that panicky Replacement Theory rabbit hole where The White Man (Tony Danza maybe?) is inherently superior.

Trump was literally blaming Obama, somehow. More projection.

"The" White Man? Which one? I bet it's Mel Gibson, that guy seems like a real asshole

So I guess the shoe fit? Have to admit the idea that you're in any state to be talking about my mental health got a good laugh out of me. Tell me another one, Doc. Or post something of substance for a change, unless ad hominem's all youve got. What do eggs cost where you live? and why do you keep insisting something's wrong with the country? You're angry about losing something imaginary, a lie sold to us by billionaires to keep us servile or at each other's throats. Don't take your anger at them out on everyone else. Some dude from Ecuador picking turnips for $20 a day isn't your enemy, nor some trans person you never even notice just trying to have a normal, quiet life. Your shit's so misdirected & yet you transfer that anger to anyone trying to talk you off a ledge you've created out of spite & a need for someone to blame. At least, that's what I see in here. It doesn't seem like there's any reasoning with you. Mad at the wrong people entirely.

They'd also send a strong message that you don't get to screw around like a complete jagoff on this team and still get paid, which is priceless. I'd maybe give him until the minicamp to show up like he's ready to work but the next time his name comes up it better be how he's training with so-and-so or something halfway positive like that. Of course if any of this gf-beating stuff turns out to be true in the meantime they should kick his ass to the curb immediately. Thinnest of ice, and make sure he knows it.

If it's illegal to vote against him it begs the question of "why bother with voting at all?" My take is that it's important for them to feel like they have a mandate. Most of them don't understand things like gerrymandering or voter suppression, and the few that do are all for it. The only "safe and fair" election is one in which their candidate wins. Not just a narrow victory, but bigly wins in a way that's never happened before. The Greatest Ever. Never mind that more people chose "fuck this shit" by not voting as compared to either candidate. They need to feel like they are the overwhelming majority because they're scared to death of anyone that's not like them.

Did they share an agent or something? Whoever the agent, I'm sure he's coached Burton on how to answer questions and present the generic sort of faux "integrity" or whatever that's expected of an NFL athlete. ...and the Bengals fell for it, and then he got paid, and immediately went back to being who he really is/was again. Which, honestly, should not have come as a surprise to anyone, let alone those making decisions at the NFL executive level who have been down this very road many times before. Are the Cincinnati Bengals trying to win football games, or are they in the business of trying to "redeem" people? They should probably pick a lane because they're having mixed results at either one.

Granted I should also chill on the name calling, but I think I tend to make an actual argument if you can get past that. I also have a very low tolerance for bigotry, authoritarianism, & hero worship. Respect is earned.

Translating Duke Tobin's Comments About Crucial Cincinnati Bengals' Offseason
They should have traded him 2 years ago if that was the plan. Now they're faced with using whatever draft pick they get in return trying to replace him, with poor odds. The only knock on him is that he's missed time with injuries, but he's a legit game-breaker. You don't just draft another one of those. They'd be very, very lucky to get another Higgins no matter what pick they're spending. No one behind him on this depth chart is close to being on his level. That aside, where's all that cap space going if not to him? Do they intend to carry all the dead weight in salary just to be nice?

Other teams employ scouting departments so that they have as much information as possible about the risks they are taking. The Bengals don't do that, and it shows.

You should try to get over the idea that calling someone names (like "liberal Dem") proves them wrong.
