  1. At Michigan there was also a "coaches bias" despite his talent and productivity ... Which begs the question, is there something about his personality off the field that makes coaches not trust him? Not like him? I've heard nothing in that regard.
  2. What I want to see ... - No starters - No injuries - Effective QB play and reads by Browning, in case needed week 1. - D'ante Smith get a pancake block - Murphy get a sack - How Ivey looks at CB (intriguing) - How Andre's speed looks at WR - Turner as a KR or PR - Lots of Chase Brown - A few booming punts by the Stache' - Shaka Heyward at LB (can he make the squad?) - Burrow involved with the coaches and backup QBs on the sidelines
  3. ... The starting OL will not be playing tonight though?
  4. I am sure Chase and Higgins are good friends, but Jefferson might be the only WR in the NFL he is better friends with ...
  5. * (Note: this is more a thought exercise than a serious proposal) * 1. It is no secret that Justin Jefferson is not happy in Minnesota. His rare talents are being wasted with Cousins at QB. 2. Meanwhile, Jefferson is watching his college teammates Burrow and Chase make it to Super Bowls and AFC Championships without him. 3. Jefferson is on the last year of his deal and wants a new contract, but I am sure would also accept a trade to Cincinnati. 4. The Bengals could never afford Chase, Higgins, and Jefferson. However, Higgins is also in the last year of his deal and has the same stubborn agent as Jessie Bates, who may be playing hardball. 5. Jefferson is the only WR the Bengals could get that would be an upgrade from Higgins. 6. So, what if Jefferson could be acquired for the same price as Higgins, because he would take a "Shiesty discount" to be reunited with his friends that he formed the greatest offense in college history with? 7. Should the Bengals consider trading Higgins for Jefferson straight up? If Minnesota knows that Jefferson will leave them anyway, then they might want to at least get a fairly comparable WR now for him and cut their losses. 8. The risk is that trading Higgins for Jefferson would not go over well with the Bengals locker room and create more damage than it is worth with internal cohesion. I guess there is also the argument that Higgins compliments Chase better than Jefferson would (though I don't buy that argument, and think they have shown they are unstoppable together). 9. So with all that said, would you hypothetically pull the trigger and do it? 10. If no trade, then there is always the possibility that both WRs play out this year, and Higgins leaves Cincy and Jefferson comes to Cincy anyway. ** (Let me clarify by saying I want Higgins to sign an extension. But if his agent won't do a deal, then alternatives must be considered) **
  6. The Modell Law has never held up in court because it's never been officially challenged, but I believe if it ever was, it would be ruled unconstitutional by the US Supreme Court. It's one of those laws that pandering politicians pass as a PR stunt, knowing they don't have the legal right to do it.
  7. Statistically, I think he's the leading passer in US High School history (16,775 yards, 229 tds), with an insane 91 TDs his senior year. So he's definitely not a scrub. Now, he's not Burrow of course (nobody is), but with this team he likely just needs to be average to get the W week 1.
  8. My favorite "personality" on the team right now is Mike Hilton. But if I had to guess who the next player added to my timeline would be, I would say CTB -- as his enthusiasm is just as infectious.
  9. The question almost needs to be asked as "Favorite other than Burrow?", because I imagine he's the favorite of most now (including me). My first favorite as a kid was David Fulcher. And then Ickey Woods. When the Bengals drafted Peter Warrick (my favorite college player of all time) he then became my favorite. I also liked Justin Smith alot. Next was Burfict, who I loved, and Pacman. So my timeline would go ... Fulcher - Ickey - Warrick - Smith - Burfict - Pacman - Burrow I don't necessarily choose based on talent and like "unique" personalities, or iconoclasts, more than anything.
  10. Yes. But for only 2 games. Both Monday nights, Rams and Jags. The NFL allows you to deviate from your usual uniform 3 times a season and have 4 jerseys total. The Bengals are doing 2 white tiger games and one orange jersey game. They essentially eliminated their retro jersey and added nothing --- as now the primary white is counted as both the 2nd jersey (with orange helmet) and the 4th jersey when it goes with the white helmet.
  11. Yes. But still gratifying to see the "No Katie, no vote" replies. 😁 I guess another way to address it would be to have a "GM poll", and have Paul Brown go up against Duke Tobin.
  12. ... Which is why I think we can still do an Owners poll for him.
  13. I would put Paul Brown on the Mount Rushmore of the NFL. The NFL owes more to him than perhaps any other innovating mind. But to me, those talents are less of him as a Bengals coach and more related him as a pioneer of the game itself. Which is why I voted for Sam still.
  14. Paul making a late push from voters ... So Sam grabs the mic ...
  15. ... That's a terrible idea. The Bengals have options and there are other cities that would gladly give them whatever they want. NFL franchises are so coveted that it comes down to --> "Do you want to pay for the luxury of having one? No, ok then someone else will."
  16. The best I think the team could hope for without Burrow would be .500 ... Which might be possible depending on the opponents. For instance, I think they can likely win week 1 without Burrow (Clowns) but am much less confident for week 2 against the Ravens.
  17. You could also do an 'Owner' poll as well (father vs son), to ensure his place on the roster 😉
