CINCINNATI — Bengals strong safety Dexter Jackson is calling on fans to help the defense with more noise.

He said the Paul Brown Stadium crowd was too quiet when Cincinnati was on defense during a 17-14 victory over the Carolina Panthers. Jackson wants fans to pump up the volume against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

"When the defense is on the field, that's the 12th man that we need," Jackson said during Monday's open locker room. "We need to get that loud noise. We need everybody to be part of this run. The crowd, the 12th man, we're calling you out. We need you guys."

Henry update

Wide receiver Chris Henry is eligible for reinstatement now that his two-game suspension for violating the NFL's Personal Conduct and Substance Abuse policies has ended.

But there's no guarantee he'll be in uniform against the Falcons. The club must make a roster move in order for Henry to rejoin the 53-man active roster.

"He gets an opportunity to come back and practice this week," Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said. "I'm not going to sit here and tell you and debate you about it. That'll be my decision as to what's best for our team. He could be on our team and be down (deactivated)."

Keeping Palmer clean

The Bengals face the same Falcons defense that tormented pissburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger on Sunday. Roethlisberger suffered a concussion on a hit from defensive ends Chauncey Davis and Patrick Kerney, and linebacker Ed Hartwell.

How important is it for the Bengals offensive line to protect quarterback Carson Palmer?

"It's always going to be (important), isn't it?" Lewis said. "It's not going to change."

'Tight' performance

The Bengals chose not to use any four-wide receiver sets against Carolina. Tight ends Reggie Kelly (3 catches, 34 yards, one touchdown) and Tony Stewart (two catches, 33 yards) took advantage of their opportunity.

"It feels good to get a few passes thrown our way," Kelly said.

"If we get 'em, we definitely enjoy 'em. If we don't, we still just try to stay focused and contribute with blocking and receiving."

Injury report

Wide receiver Antonio Chatman (abdominal strain) was the only Bengals player injured Sunday.

"He may be a little bit limited on Wednesday, but he'll be listed as probable," Lewis said.

Center Rich Braham, offensive tackle Levi Jones, wide receiver Kelley Washington and quarterback Anthony Wright are out. Linebacker Rashad Jeanty (foot) remains questionable.
MULLY
i stated just earlier today that i like KW, but honestly who does care if he returns... this place wanted him all but dead all last year and offseason.. now he holds some magical value? braham is one of the best players on the team, but it doesnt change reality. he is out for the year, his contract is up, and he is a very old man..

It's true...Washington has done his thing, but he is hardly integral...That has been proven time and time again.

Braham is a loss...But let's not kid ourselves. According to the way that Marvin usually handles injuries, they won't put him on IR until the point of no return. But whether he reaches that point or not, all the signs are pointing towards Ghiaciuc for the next 6-8 games.

After that...It may not matter if he is healthy, if the current line has come together.

At some point, Ghiaciuc will make or break himself with this 10-12 game window.
