Louisville (6-6) versus Southern Mississippi (8-4): BEEF O'BRADY BOWL, St. Petersburg; 8 PM ET; ESPN

Good grief! Maybe we are dating ourselves here, but there was a time when bowl games had simple, generic names like Rose and Orange and Holiday. And while the Beef O'Brady Bowl may not be the worst name for a new bowl its close. To make matters worse, this year's game between Louisville, which just managed to earn bowl eligibility playing in the worst BCS conference ever, and a decent, but hardly star-studded Southern Miss team that at least won 8 games. Ranting asde, there are at least a couple of emerging prospects at Louisville that pro scouts will be openedin on in this one in CB Johnny Patrick (#19, 5-11, 190) anmd RB Bilal Powell (#15, 5-11, 215). Patrick, in particular, has established himself as at least a top 100 prospect with decent size, combined with 4.45 speed, while Powell is a north-south slasher with a burst who ran for 1,300 yards this past season. Meanwhile, other Cardinals to watch include TE Cameron Graham (#83, 6-4, 250), OG Mark Wetterer (#79, 6-4, 320), and OT Byron Stingily (#78, 6-5, 300), although none of the latter trio is more than a free agent type prospect.

For its part, Southern Mississippi does not have much in the way of prospects for the upcoming draft but is at least entertaining to watch with an offense that can put points on the board and a defense that too often gives them up almost as quickly. Indeed, there is a better than even chance that Southern Miss won'ty have anyone taken at all at the 2011 draft, although stumpy NT Anthony Gray (#95, 6-0, 315) could generate some very late-round interest. Pro scouts, though, will be watching a couple of USM juniors rather closely. WR DeAndre Brown (#5, 6-5, 240), for example, was part of the great WR recruiting class that also included A.J. Green of Georgia and Aabama's Julio Jones. And the rangy Brown looked all the part of a future elite pick when he caught 67 passes as a freshman, but then suffered a severely brokne leg in the Golden Eagles bowl game that fall and is still trying to work his way back to 100%. Meanwhile, junior PK Danny Hrapmann has an All-American leg and connected on 26 of 30 FG attempts this fall, including 8 for 11 from outside the 40-yard line and 2 of 3 50 yards or longer.
