|Numbers|
Last year during a bad storm I had a mess of limbs, pieces of trees, bushes, etc... in my yard. Out of a joke, I stuck one of the sticks in the ground, the rest of the mess went in as mulch or to the burn pile. This year that little stick decides to really sprout. I was going to take the picture to the local nursery to ID it but figure this might be fun to see what we can find out here first.
|Numbers|
I have an answer from Patrick Sullivan. It is common pokeweed. http://www.oardc.ohio-state.edu/weedguide/singlerecord.asp?id=270 In other words, not something I need growing in or around my yard. CincyInDC
It could be black cherry. Take a good picture of the stem. nevermind then... :) Make sure you don't let any tree of heaven grow in your yard...that stuff is nasty.

I had a Japanese Maple plant itself on my fenceline but was unable to save. I actually try to save many of the transplants. I have a very nice Redbud growing as a result. Wild grapes, honeysuckle, wild roses, thornberries, etc... I just don't need the toxic varieties growing.
