The latest being, well, we all know what has been all over the news. One thing going on, that probably needed more attention: 1) HR 5859 To impose sanctions with respect to the Russian Federation, to provide additional assistance to the Ukraine, and for other purposes. The ruble was in decline long before sanctions were imposed and from what I've seen has continued at about the same rate despite the sanctions. There's been a concerted effort to make it sound like they are being severely punished but I wouldn't attribute that to anything more than grandstanding to offset the usual rah-rah jingoistic bullshit from the war profiteers on the far right..
