Will Michael Moore turn his cameras on Katrina?

The controversial filmmaker is “seriously considering” turning the devastating storm and its aftermath into a documentary, says a source. “It has all the elements that made ‘Fahrenheit 911’ such a powerful film,” says a source. “The political outrage, the human suffering, and the incredible footage.”

Moore’s rep didn’t have a comment by press time, but Moore certainly isn’t being silent about Katrina on his Web site. “There is much to be said and done about the manmade annihilation of New Orleans, caused NOT by a hurricane but by the very specific decisions made by the Bush administration in the past four and a half years,” he wrote. “Do not listen to anyone who says we can discuss all this later. No, we can’t. Our country is in an immediate state of vulnerability. More hurricanes, wars, and other disasters are on the way, and a lazy bunch of self-satisfied lunatics are still running the show.”

Moore's a muckraker in the tradition of Upton Sinclair, Ida Tarbell, and even modern day Nader. And like most muckrakers who have gained some notoriety over the past hundred years, he hits nerves because he exposes stuff buried in muck. That's not to say his assessments are accurate or final.

He performs a useful function, just like Drudge on the other side of the ideological question. Folks like that act as conduits of lesser known info, seen through their particular prism. It's up to individuals to sort the wheat from the chaff.

That's not to say I'd invite him (or Drudge) over to dinner. But I do sniff through their leavings!

Wow Wow Homer come down with all that historical relevance and analysis ...... this isn't what we need in a time of war, he is a pinko commie and should be shot, stay steadfast and steady, he stands in the way of freedom which is on the march by the way.... and your reason and intellect is not needed here Homer

The people you mentioned have credibility...
Nader and Moore in the same paragraph ?
Puh-leeez.

Columbine, 9/11 and now Katrina.

He isn`t a muck raker...he is moron that is getting richer
and FATTER off of National tragedies because some people
hate Conseravtives so much...they are wanting to see
anything and everything they can to discredit them.
Even if half of it is creative editing and the other half is LIES.

And you`d sniff Moore`s what ?

Moore isn't even a liberal. He's not really a left-winger.
He is a (this is the important part)self-proclaimed Truth seeker.
Moore doesn't know enough about the way things are, the way things should be, or politics in general to write any material above base humor directed at the 15-22 spiked-hair demographic.

Nader and Tarbell were trying to help the American people. Sinclair ended up doing the same, but The Jungle started out with more of a Socialist message, god bless him.
