  1. Unlike years gone by—before the silly “tampering period”—teams had a fighting chance to actually negotiate with players, along with other teams. This new thing is a calculated guess by teams of what X Player wants—and they have to hit the sweet spot on the day “tampering” begins. Plus, the advent of “guaranteed money” makes that guess even more throwing darts at the wall. Since the Bengals won’t even consider guarantees, it makes their dart throwing of virtually no effect
  2. HOU getting some stuff DONE in FA so far Yet another AFC team going to be in the way of 2024 Bengals’ erstwhile playoff hopes
  3. The danger of going with no “bridge” tackle cannot be understated. Not that any of the FA guys gone this moment are OBJ-level, but there likely is going to be a roll of the bones on solely a rookie to man the position. Oh sure, there may be a token high-side Rieff/low-side Ford type player taken somewhere, but basically the rookie is going to be on his own. And before I hear about Becton—I have a good mate who is a JETS fan. He waved him off good riddance—can’t “get out of his own fat backside way…moves like a statue”.
  4. I must be slipping…I neglected to place “He’s going to hold out!” on the week’s progression of Tee-Hate commentary
  5. Guy can still play. I'm betting he shocks everyone with the finalization of his injury comeback.
  6. Nothing wrong with either of them really. Minshew is fearless, and from the Mike Leach School of Throw-It And Don't Stop Throwing It
  7. Looks like they are all-in on attempting to fill another hole. Although I am reminded that Chuck Fizzle and Iosovas are all they need. Oh, plus the 6th-round pick.
  8. A-C Alert #1! Progressing to: “He can’t stay healthy…like Joe” 😁
  9. I haven’t had to announce “Anti-Christ Alert” for Tee yet. But it’s getting close. Predicted reactions over the rest of the week—in increasing order: “He is just a #2 WR…why can’t he just accept that? ”His agent will make him hold out unless traded” ”You can’t have a cancer like this in your locker room” ”He isn’t good anyway—look at the stats! Charlie Jones will easily out-produce him” ”Take anything in a trade. He hates it here.” “Joe hates him too, and wishes he were gone. Saw it on Tik Tok”
  10. Free agency is the annual “take Player A with some broken part/parts and fit them into slot where Player B with some broken part/parts used to be” The Draft is where Player Y has no broken part/parts yet, and will absolutely be the next great thing. That is, until 4 years later, when he becomes Players A and B. Cycle of Life.
  11. Now watch him have a career year—in the Bengals’ division. “He may not be as good as he once was… but he may be good once as he ever was” 🤔
  12. “Old” players are never worth more than League minimum. And only for 1-year deals. Or something like that I read somewhere.
  13. BJ player-crush alert!! This is not a drill! 😀
  14. Cody Ford back. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/cody-ford-stays-with-bengals-with-new-one-year-contract
  15. Hey…the Bengals get two comp picks in the 6th round (for Bell and Perine) 208 and 214.
  16. Heck a 7th this year and a conditional 6th next should do it…amirite? 😐
  17. That should not be the epithet for the 2024 season.
  18. Nothing I love more than footy. I wish I had come across it when younger, but the sport was virtually unknown around my parts in the late ‘60’s/early ‘70’s. Good on ya for still doing it. Glad I did find golf, though. While not an aerobic sort of thing, it’s still a nice 3-4 mile walk over hill and dale a few times a week
  19. That’s a sad account. As the years have edged on, I have kept a sober view of high-exertion activities. I’m not 20..or even 40 any longer. Trying to compete in something like sand volleyball, is not in the best interest. Or pickup basketball. I mean, I golf a lot—walking—but that isn’t sprinting or that sort of thing. Not totally washed, and still give some of the old activities a go periodically. As the late, great, Toby Keith said: “I ain’t as good as I once was…but I’m as good once as I ever was”
