  1. Speaking of autotune, I have for years now been wanting NBC to dump Underwood and being back someone who knows how to sing - like Faith Hill.... Every Sunday Night, when the gecko shows up on screen coming out of commercial and NBC gives me the 10 second warning that the "Sunday Night Anthem" is about to be played, I mute my TV and pine for the pre-autotune football of my youth.
  2. The artist's name is Isobel Hamilton. She and I have become friends on Twitter / X.... she's a Bengal fan living in Nova Scotia who originally hails from Scotland. To my knowledge she's never been to a game, she just picked the Bengals back in the 80's as "her team" and has stuck with us through good times and bad. She's a professional painter who also does weekly Bengal-themed images linked to each week's matchup. She began during our 2022 playoff run and has continued throughout the current season. Her work is outstanding. She sells reprints in various sizes, as well as some on 1/4"-thick aluminum I bought the entire 2022 series and have had them framed, and will buy the 2023 series shortly. I recommend them highly. She's also working on a 2024 calendar ("Cincinnatus: The Gentleman Tiger") using images she's already created, it's available for presale and 25% of the purchase price goes to an Ohio animal rescue - Perfect Imperfect Pet. Support your team, an independent artist, and a local charity, all with one purchase! I've ordered one for myself and a handful of others for Christmas gifts. https://isobelhamilton.com/ is her primary "I'm an artist" page https://isobelhamilton.art/ is focused on her Bengal prints. I've invited her and her husband to attend a game next season as my guest - its the least I can do for someone doing so much amazing work propping up my favorite team.
  3. Six years ago today, as the 4pm NFL trade deadline approached, the Bengals and Cleveland's Football Team had agreed to a deal, sending our world-class backup QB, AJ McCarron, up north to help then 0-8 Current Browns overcome another spectacular drafting blunder, as they were starting DeShone Kizer at QB at the time. In what Adam Schefter says was "the most Browns story ever", Cleveland's Team botched the deal by forgetting to tell the league. They would go on to finish that season 0-16. CFT was offering their 2nd and 3rd round picks in the 2018 draft for McCarron. In those rounds we took S Jessie Bates (2-53) and LB Sam Hubbard (3-77). With the extra picks we could've also had RB Nick Chubb (2-35) and OLB Fred Warner (3-70). 4. I really thought Irv was a decent off-season pickup. I admit now I was wrong. We should be up 24-10 if not for an 8 yard sack pushing McPherson's FG attempt back to 50 yards and, of course, Irv Smith. I agree that we should use the time between now and 4pm Tuesday to trade for a TE, because at least then we'd have one.
  5. Purdy may or may not play. Hard to know, if he plays he first has to clear concussion protocol, which would see an announcement today (Friday) if that's the case. Trent Williams is the bigger question. If he's out, their O-Line drops in efficiency significantly. 60% of Williams is equal to 100% of anyone else they have, and the reserves behind their five starters aren't impressive.
  6. $253M for 8 starts so far. Works out to over $500K per game minute. That'll buy a lot of massages.
  7. Posting the definition of insanity and expecting that people have never heard of or learned from past postings of the definition of insanity is the definition of insanity. Just sayin' <g>
  8. And apparently he's the only player in the NFL allowed to play without putting his mouth guard IN HIS MOUTH. Lol.
  9. A panda walks into a cafe. He orders a sandwich, eats it, then draws a gun and fires two shots into the air. "Why?" asks the confused waiter, as the panda makes towards the exit. The panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder. "I'm a panda," he says, at the door. "Look it up." The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation. "Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves."
  10. God..... sometimes the AFC North bugs the hell out of me because of the ignoramuses making up the other three teams' fanbases.
  11. At this point, frankly, I would prefer to see Joe sit, go on IR, miss 4 games and come back after a five week break (with the early bye). As long as he's hobbled, defenses will pin their ears back and rush/blitz him, knowing he's relatively immobile and likely incapable of pushing off on his leg to launch deep balls. Tennessee has no pass defense, yet this week they stymied the Bengals and held us to only one scoring drive by doing just that. Burrow is the franchise - sacrificing a quarter season and risking missing the post-season (which I wish they had done after Week 2) seems cheaper than potentially risking greater injury. And with two games coming against Pittsburgh, you know they'll be trying to do just that.
  12. You never root for injuries in football, although it's understandable if you feel not-so-bad if one happens to someone who has caused intentional injuries to other players, or if it happens to a member of a team whose management and coaching staff are notorious for promoting that behavior. The Stealers lost their QB to a knee injury this week, which is absolutely karma-filled. It's okay to NOT cry about it.
  13. If you're on Twitter you have undoubtedly seen this artwork series. The artist is Isobel Hamilton from Halifax, Nova Scotia, and she's a big Bengal fan. During the playoff run last season she released one image per week. They're outstanding ..... (Click on any to embiggen) Reprints of these are available from her e-commerce site. $22 for 8x8, $30 for 12x12. I've ordered a full set, large, and should be getting them this coming week. She has continued the series into the current season. They're just as fantastic as the 2022 playoff set, although prints are not yet available of them.
