At least have a workhorse type RB for short yardage and passing plays who is maybe 5-11 240lbs, is a great pass blocker and averages 4.1 yds a carry. Don’t know where we could find one of those.
Three things stand out:
1. Offensive Line was unable to block Garrett who applied inside pressure on almost every down. The line was unable to pass block. Burrow had no choice but to throw early.
2. Given 1 above the play calling was awful. Too many deep routes that were never going to work based on the Stains pass rush. Boyd should have had 12 catches.
3. on third and 8 THE RECEIVER MUST GO AT LEAST 9 YARDS DOWNFIELD!!!!!
Burrow played like utter dogshit. Baker Mayfield had a better game today. I am not saying Watson is great but he easily outplayed Burrow today. In my opinion it’s a one off but don’t pretend today didn’t happen.
The defense played fine. The browns had 7 offensive possessions. SEVEN. The offense was utter shit. 3 first downs. Cleveland is a power running team with a great back. The defense played great considering the weather and time on the field.
What makes the most sense is they are trying to structure the contract so the Bengals don’t have to put so much REAL money in an Escrow account. It’s just figuring out upfront signing bonuses vs deferred payments.
The division is going to be tough as is the AFC in general.
Losses are @ Cleveland, Baltimore, Pittsburgh and KC. Home loss against Seattle after beating SF on the road after the bye.
