They're demanding a price they themselves are unwilling to pay. They seem to think they can force him to go out and get another dozen-plus sacks because of a contract. That's simply not how it works. This thread is over 20 pages. If this drags on into training camp it will 100% be a distraction.

He has the ultimate card in that the team can't force him out there with a cattle prod. Whole lot of ways he can get out of playing or play very little without owing them anything. Pay him, trade him, or deal with the distraction. Those are the options.

Which got the team what, exactly? Don't get me wrong, I'm not really down on Chase in the big picture & the FO could've easily avoided the issue, but ultimately this isn't the Cincinnati Ja'Marrs. They stank out of the gate & couldn't overcome those early losses. There are plenty of other reasons for that but his "hold in" was the focus all through camp into the preseason & it didn't help.
