  1. Those late first round DBs have been pretty good to us
  2. You can count on this FO to take the path of least resistance/effort almost every time.
  3. Another "potential" guy we're supposed to wait for, cool!
  4. Oh I agree, doing it with no warning at all is scummy regardless of their reasoning.
  5. Things his OL doesn't need to work on: 1. Impression of a turtle on its back 2. Helping the QB up off the ground 3. Forgetting the snap count 4. Shuffling their feet while trying to decide who they're supposed to block 5. Jogging downfield without getting involved in the play 6. ????
  6. When they equate Hamas with the Palestinian people then say they intend to "defeat" them that is only achievable through genocide. Biden's support for it may just cost him reelection & maybe we deserve what'll happen next for allowing this to go on.
  7. Is there a waiting list right now? Didn't know the demand was high enough to make them pull this sort of BS.
  8. I agree but it's maybe not that easy to me, we just watched the defense lose them a lot of games that Browning was capable of winning. Protecting the QB is more important but they couldn't get off the field on 3rd down. This OL also looked a lot worse than just one RT away from OK. More to my point, with $50m in cap space and the biggest chunk of that assigned to someone with high trade value that's not in their long term plans, they don't have to choose one or the other. They could potentially sign 2 FA's and have 2 1st round picks as well. Assuming Higgins is as good as gone, is it really worth passing on all that just to keep him another year? There's a pretty good FA pool for WR's, Higgins may be the best of them but there are good options for a WR2. Some combination of OT/DT/WR with the first 3 picks & complimentary FA's at those positions is the only way I see them keeping pace in the North. Rely solely on the draft, even with extra picks, and we're going to be chasing again.
  9. "Takes a lot of pride in making Robbins better" & this is how relying on coaches as primary draft scouts becomes a problem. This team does not have the luxury of waiting. I like Simmons but I fear he's been in that same chair for too long. He was named Assistant Head Coach when they hired Taylor. His duties include muddying the waters about who is in charge & undermining ZT's authority. Not with bad intentions but WTF is the purpose of giving him that title when they've just hired a new HC to make Big Changes? They did the same bullshit to Marvin, naming Ketchup Wizard the assistant HC when he was hired. It's not really a changing of the guard when you make the last remnant of the old guard your 2nd in command and give the new one a 3 year contract. That's hedging your bets, it's showing that not only do they not have full confidence in the new hire, they want a daily reminder lurking in the next office. IDK what that's about but it smells musty to me. Ownership need to get over treating these coaches like they have tenure. He's not the loyal family butler. He's a football coach that's been on the same team through 20 years of underachieving. Why isn't he an OC or DC somewhere else, if not here? Or an actual head coach? Sounds to me like someone way too comfortable with the status quo.
  10. Of course there's not but the hope is the draft pick eventually lives up to that. All they need from a FA is to not be a liability while that draft pick gets up to speed. Seems obvious that a rookie is probably not going to hit the ground running as an every-down starter in the NFL.
  11. What's overpaying mean exactly? This team has a SB window and the market is what it is.. Maybe that means paying more than they want for a NT; oh well. There's a need and there's whoever is available. I'm sure they don't want to pay big bucks for an average player, but that's the price of not planning ahead.
  12. Someone explains to you why a border wall is an absolutely pointless boondoggle so you move the goalposts to open borders, which is not actually something anyone has suggested. And then call the people trying to reason with you unreasonable.. Classic. It's the old "playing chess with a pigeon" scenario every time. Wait are you for a border wall & moat with sharks with friggin laser beams attached to their heads or not? Sure! It's been steadily decreasing for the past 20 years at least: The "Border Wall" is nothing but a ridiculously expensive monument to racism. Can't you just put up another bronze statue of Nathan Bedford Forrest in Biloxi or some shit and save a few billion taxpayer dollars? You're supposed to be conservatives, remember?
  13. OK but who do they get to actually start when Reader isn't healthy yet and the rookie NT plays like a rookie NT? This notion that they draft a RT & NT in the first 2 rounds and everything's golden is pure fantasy. They'll be lucky to draft a quality day one starter at either position. There's no way around the fact that they can't have the 5th most cap space at the end of this offseason and still expect to return to the SB.
  14. So which position would you rather have struggle through the first half of the season (at least)? Counting on a rookie RT or NT sounds like a great way to get a higher draft pick for whatever rookie starter we need to foolishly rely on for the next season. This isn't a choice of free agent or draft pick, they need to do both if they expect better results than last year.
  15. Sprint to the podium then hope he beats out Volson on the first day of camp? Let him take over at C (or not) when the time comes.
  16. Which is kind of funny because they never fire anyone either. What's the concern? People miss on draft picks all the time anyway. Whiffing on a 6th round punter isn't a big deal unless they turn it into one. For some reason they have a tendency to do that & I think it's cultural. Remember when Ol' Musty was on HK & suggested moving a DE to TE or some nonsense hot take from the days of leather helmets? Everyone else in the room tried not to look at each other. That kind of Naked Emperor avoidance shit will permeate an entire organization & while I'd like to hope the younger generation are better than that, who is around to tell them they're wrong about anything? From the top down, people hold positions with the Bengals due to nepotism & patronage. Suck up to the right people and you can drunkenly threaten to kill cops on camera or shoot a kid on your lawn and you'll still get paid. You don't even have to be good at the sport that is ostensibly their only product. Said it before but this franchise sometimes operates like a charitable trust that is required to perform football games. Anyhow they should definitely go get Townsend but they probably won't & I know it sounds crazy but is their reason really because it would make Brad Robbins and Simmons sad?
  17. We need to raise the overall talent level and depth with free agents so we're not counting on draft picks to make or break the season.
  18. I'm starting to think he should be starting TBH.
  19. Just watched a clip video & he's back on his heels a lot in pass pro. Also grabbing a lot of jersey but IDK, in the current NFL that might be a good thing. A lot of wins by virtue of simply being bigger than the guy he's blocking.
  20. Well yeah, they've got to draft guys they think are capable of starting & it does work out sometimes. Good teams do that before the depth chart fills up with blank spaces. Writing them in as starters before they're even on the team is where they run into trouble. When they don't work out or get hurt because they're not up to NFL conditions yet then they've got no Plan B and we start getting the videos & articles about how nice they are.
  21. To my eyes it looks like a frequent lack of effort. Just kinda out there doing the bare minimum unless he gets the ball. Like what you might expect from a guy who thinks he's untouchable and can do (or not do) whatever he wants. Weird, huh?
  22. They'll be lucky to get a capable day one starter at either position, let alone fill both. Drafting for starters rarely works out & less so for linemen.
  23. These fools haven't even considered the smiles! No one has mentioned Dobbins smiling so hard pass. I bet he doesn't even make fingerguns at the RB coach after he whiffs on yet another blocking assignment. Forget it.
