  1. Taylor’s ply calling is often a head scratcher; if something is working he seems to outthink himself and go away from it , probably to try and be hard to guess.
  2. Some coaching changes on the offensive side have to happen this offseason. Can’t roll out this same crew. OL and OC would be on my list
  3. That dumb Browning pick deep in Stealers territory was a boig part of the momentum shift in the game.
  4. Looks like a very weak draft at the TE position. After Bowers (who is Top 10) may not even be one until round 3 or 4.
  5. Sam Wyche reference... https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/gregg-popovich-pays-homage-to-sam-wyche-sort-of
  6. Wasn't one of the recent articles on him saying he has, over the last year or two, completly changed his mechanics?
  7. Comp Picks: Saw one site that said a 5th and 7th for us and NFL site has a 5th and 6th: TEAMS PROJECTED TO RECEIVE 2 PICKS Cincinnati Bengals Projected compensatory picks: One in Round 5; one in Round 6. Key free-agent losses: Jessie Bates (Falcons), Vonn Bell (Panthers), Hayden Hurst (Panthers), Samaje Perine (Broncos). Key free-agent additions: Orlando Brown, Nick Scott. Comp-pick analysis: For the first time since 2019, the Bengals should be receiving compensatory picks. Bates’ departure and Brown’s arrival should cancel each other out in the formula, but Cincinnati should receive a fifth- and sixth-rounder for its other losses.
  8. The Blackburn gals have defintely moved the needle in terms of org changes needed to compete (guaranteed money, etc) and they need to do this further as we go along the JB window. The ebbs and flows of the draft seem to result in periods where guys dont turn out so you need to pick up more free agents and then when they do turn out you have too many to re-sign. Working in our favor (all teams favor really) is the huge increase coming in the cap over the next few years. This will spur many cap magic contracts for sure. End of the day - keep drafting well and supplement with free agents as needed.

  10. With the exception of OL, our drafting over the last number of years has been very good. We all bashed the personnel staff but they have upped theoir game at the draft table and at picking up free agents. I think our past few drafts would rate in the top 10 in the league - you can't jsut pick at one specific drfated players and say we should have picked this guy or that guy instead. It's a muggs game and every team could do it with virtually every pick. Look at the defensive backfield over the past few years - we drafted Bates, Hill, Turner and CTB AND picked up Chido (sp) and Bell as free agents. That is good player selections. And Battle could be included. With the draft, every team could do the coulda, woulda, shoulda. I am fine with how we draft other then the fact we cant find a OL even though our QB's career depends on it. It is like how we could not find one decent LB for like 10 years even with Zimmer and Merv here. Just be glad we dont have a Mike Mayock here or anyone with the last name of Lippencott.
  11. Unfortunately, we are most often on the lookout for OL busts. We find them with amazing frequency.
  12. Bowers is seen by many as a Top 5 pick, he is likely to be long gone wherever we end up in the draft
  13. Some notables from Dane Brugler's recent top 50 prospect list: (Hard to cut and paste from the way they formatted this page) #10 JC Latham OT ALABAMA Height: 6-6 Weight: 335 Class: Jr. A massive blocker, Latham carries his weight well in pass protection and plays with exceptional strength from head to toe. In the run game, he creates movement at contact and specializes in dumping linebackers at the second level. He needs to be more consistent with his strike placement and protecting versus inside moves, but Latham has quickly and consistently improved since he arrived in Tuscaloosa. He has the goods to be a starting NFL right tackle next year. #19 Amarius Mims OT GEORGIA Height: 6-7 Weight: 330 Class: Jr. The No. 5 player in my preseason top 50, Mims looked primed for a breakout season, but he has been sidelined with an ankle injury. Nonetheless, I’m still captivated by his flashes and traits. He moves tremendously well for a 330-pounder and packs a punch behind his powerful hands. With just five career starts to his name, Mims needs to establish his body of work, but I’ll bet on his baseline talent. #22 Tyler Guyton OT OKLAHOMA Height: 6-6 Weight: 319 Class: R-Jr. Similar to Amarius Mims, Guyton’s draft projection is based more on traits and upside than body of work, which can make it challenging to accurately rank him at this point. But he offers the big-man athleticism and movement skills that make it easy to be optimistic for his future. Several NFL scouts believe his potential is greater than that of Anton Harrison, a 2023 first-rounder from Oklahoma.
  14. Rest injured guys, play for pride and give some young players some snaps. Then get a higher draft pick and parlay that into more strengths next season.
  15. Browning is no scrub at the High School level. He was modestly above average at the college level and he is a scrub in the NFL (no offense to him).
  16. One of the Bengals new sites said they got good news on CTB - day-to-day
  17. I am sure the team knows very well by now what the problem is. It is just that they have not released the information yet.
  18. Kaepernick is a joke. Not only a useless QB, he is a mental midget, a dsitraction and has not played for years now.
  19. I think the TE conversation is interesting in terms of how the position rates and relates to the other 3 WR spots. To me, if Vhase, Tee and Boyd we don't really need an elite TE. But if we don't re-sign Boyd and tag Tee (losing him the year after) then maybe a high level TE with 'lesser' of WR2 and WR3 would work just as well? But dammit, we need to fix the OL for the next 5 years. That to me is still priority #1.
  20. At this point, I would like the first 4 picks to be 2 OL and 2 DL.
  21. The hip-drop tackle is one the NFL has been looking at banning BUT the NFLPA has said no way to the ban becuse it would leave defenders rather helpless. It is a legal tackle, plain and simple. And will likley remain so.
