True. I have heard Charlie Weis and Pat Kirwan talk about this a lot on Sirius. Because of the numbers your backup OL HAVE to be versatile and not just able to cover one spot.
Accountability starts with calling oneself out, which is what the offense is doing. Step two is actually performing better. If Callahan was making excuses it would be a different issue, but he is not.
Zac is by no means the first coach to abondon the run EVEN when it is working well. Sometimes these guys just out smart themselves and forget the KISS principle.
The NHL refs still park the whistles as the season progresses and they dissapear in the playoffs. These days they call ticky tacky slashing (stick on stick) but dont call obvious cross0-checking.
In some respects, I think the major sports leagues LOVE the inconsistent refs. It gives fans talking points and bitching points between games. It keeps the games and leagues in the fan's minds so to speak.
I would add thatTaylor ran a very causal and soft TC, players loved it but it seems to me this has contributed to our very slow start. Granted JB was hurt in camp but the rest of the key players could have and should have played more in preseason. We have been a step or two behind other teams so far.
