I was also hoping for an execution today.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I thought I would start this game thread the way I started the Chiefs game thread that kicked
off the season. Because this is the kick off of the 2nd half of the season. And the 2nd half of the
season will determine if the Bengals are the Playoff team we all thought they were.

All the experts said that if Palmer started the season, the Bengals were legit Super Bowl contenders.
Like all of us, they never expected the Offense to struggle the way it has.

There has been a lot of finger pointing and whining to the media, by stars and some team leaders.
There has been some experts saying that the reason the Bengals are struggling is because of
character issues. We all know about the injuries. But every team has injuries. Injuries are
part of the game. Injuries are an excuse. Great teams find a way to win, regardless of who
is injured. Great coaches find a way to win with the players they have available.

I have a few quotes in my signature, one says "Winning makes believers of us all."
Truer words were never spoken.
Another quote says "When you win, say nothing. When you lose, say less."

It`s time to shut up and let your play do the talking. Are you listening Chad ?
It`s time to show everyone that you`re the better team on the field. Are you listening TJ ?
It`s time start screaming at the coaches and players to be more physical ON the field DURING the game. Are you listening Big Willie ?
It`s time to get past that mental hurdle and trust your team mates. Are you listening Carson ?
It`s time to take your frustrations out on your opponents. Are you listening Defense ? How about
you Offense ? You hear me too don`t you Coaches ?

The Bengals have two choices, they can look at the games coming up and say
We`re going to prove that we are a great team by beating some of the best
teams in the NFL, while driving towards the Playoffs. Or they can keep giving
us excuses, about the coaching, injuries and schedule, and be a mediocre team.
They have plenty of excuses they can fall back on. They also have a chance to
show everyone what a great team they are. The 2nd half of the season will show
us which team they truly are.

With all of that said...
THE SERIES
Chargers lead 17-11, 8-6 in Cincinnati, 1-0 at PBS

NOTEWORTHY
One of the unique coaching matchups in the NFL pits Marvin Lewis, born, Sept. 23, 1958, against Marty Schottenheimer, born Sept. 23, 1943, in neighboring pissburgh-area communities and both graduated from Fort Cherry High School ... Lewis has won the only scrum, a 34-27 win in San Diego in 2003 … The Chargers are the only NFL team rated in the top five in offensive and defensive yardage, lead the NFL in scoring with 31 points per game and have the second greatest point differential next to the Bears … Bengals RB Rudi Johnson trails Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson’s AFC lead of 828 yards by 199 … The last Bengals back to win a league rushing title was Paul Robinson in the first year of the franchise in the old AFL (1968) … Bengals WR Chad Johnson needs 96 yards to move past Eddie Brown into fourth on the club’s all-time receiving yardage list, a number he’s hit 21 times in his career and twice this season … Bengals P Kyle Larson’s last touchback came Sept. 24 against the stealers, and he’s put 13 inside the 20 since and trails Buffalo’s Ryan Moorman by two for the league differential lead with a plus-13 … Bengals radio analyst Dave Lapham and Chargers radio analyst Hank Bauer played on their respective teams against each other in the “Freezer Bowl,” the 1981 AFC championship game won by the Bengals, 27-7, in a minus-59 degree wind chill at Riverfront Stadium.

NFL RANKINGS
CIN: Tied for 12th in scoring, 18th in offense (25th rushing, 11th passing), tied for 24th in defense (24th rushing, 21st passing), tied for 11th in turnover differential; SD: First in scoring, third in offense (second rushing, 14th passing), second in defense (fourth rushing, eighth passing); third in turnover differential.

COACHES
CIN: Marvin Lewis 31-25 (0-1 postseason) in his fourth season; SD: Marty Schottenheimer 39-34 in fifth season, 197-138-1 overall in 20 seasons.

THE WEATHER
It will be a little nicer this Sunday. The National Weather Service in Wilmington, Ohio is calling for mostly sunny skies with highs in the upper 40s and a light wind out of the northwest at five to 10 miles per hour.

GAME DAY ENTERTAINMENT
Anthem: Shannon Kramer; Halftime: Pepsi Punt, Pass and Kick; Honor Guard: Middletown Police Honor Guard; Giveaway: There will be a special pregame on-field presentation in honor of Veteran’s Day. Forty military representatives will unfurl a large American Flag across the field. The Bengals are also once again partnering with the Salvation Army for their annual Kettle Kickoff. We encourage all fans to look out for the red kettles at each gate in support of the Salvation Army’s efforts to help families in need this holiday season.

Honestly - is there any hope for the playoffs if we lose this game today? Who do the Broncos, Jaguars, and Chiefs play?
There would still be a chance. But it would be a very deep to climb out of.
4-5 team, losers of 3 in a row and 5 of their last 6....

The Broncos play the Raiders, the Jags play the Texans and the Chiefs play the Dolphins...
Oh dont go get all TWM on me mullet boy.
:P

I`m not pissed. It`s just that I started typing right when he made his thread.
If I had known, I wouldn`t have went through all that trouble.

And I haven`t had a mullet in almost a year. That`s probably why the Bengals
are struggling...
