Report: Ja’Marr Chase has AC joint sprain, will have more tests Sunday

Recommended Posts

He might be done for the year, a shoulder injury takes time. I injured mine in January and it took months to get it back to a normal range of motion but it still has some lasting effects. Now obviously Ja'Marr is an elite athlete but still, he will be out for a few weeks at the very least.

This is a great opportunity for everyone if you think about it because they all have something to prove. Higgins and Boyd are upcoming free agents that have struggled with injuries and drops so this is a great opportunity to prove they can step up and be the guys to drive this pass-centric offense. Irwin and the rookies are playing to show that they can be reliable targets is Higgins and Boyd leave via FA.

Yes, the Bengals will miss Ja'Marr but they have other weapons who are more than capable of winning out the remainder of games.

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor says wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase hasn’t been ruled out for Saturday’s game at Pittsburgh.

Asked today about a report that Chase will miss at least one game with a separated shoulder, Taylor said it’s too soon to determine that.

“We’ll see how the week goes,” Taylor said.

Chase is the Bengals’ leading receiver with 93 catches for 1,156 yards and seven touchdowns this season. The Bengals, whose season seemed to be all but over when Joe Burrow suffered a season-ending wrist injury, have surprisingly won three straight games with Jake Browning at quarterback and are now in the thick of the AFC wild card race. They’d love to have Chase on the field in Pittsburgh on Saturday, and Taylor isn’t ruling that out.

Possible translation: Yes, he will not play on Saturday.  However, we don’t want Pissturd to know that until the last possible minute, so that they have to utilize practice time preparing for Ja’Marr being on the field.

While Bengals head coach Zac Taylor did not yet rule Ja’Marr Chase out for Saturday’s game against Pittsburgh, the receiver is reportedly set to miss time with a separated shoulder.

Cincinnati has been plagued by injuries for much of the season, most notably with quarterback Joe Burrow out for the season with a wrist injury. But offensive coordinator Brian Callahan still anticipates that the unit will be effective, in part because the club has dealt with so many injuries.

“Don’t have much choice if he’s out and we’ve had played plenty of games without Ja’Marr,” Callahan said, via Kelsey Conway of the Cincinnati Enquirer. “We played plenty of games without Tee [Higgins], we’ve got plenty of other guys that have to fill in and that’s just the nature of the whole league right now.

“I think you look around, there’s a lot of teams that are dealing with the same stuff and guys got to keep stepping up and raising their level of play and keep trying to find ways to win.”

Nevertheless, Chase is hard to replace. He’s caught a career-high 93 passes this season for 1,156 yards with seven touchdowns.
