Posted August 3, 2024Aug 3 comment_1755302 No, I'm not a Dodgers fan. Well, not in the traditional sense. Been a Reds fan since I was a kid watching the Big Red Machine in the early 70s. But has anyone else ever noticed the strange correlation between Dodgers & Bengals success? I know they are both utterly unrelated in actuality, but I just find it remarkable how one seems to always precede the other. Since the Bengals came into existence, the Dodgers have won the World Series 3 times. The Bengals have also made it to the Super Bowl 3 times. 1981 - Dodgers beat the Yankees in 6 (this should have been the Reds WS championship, but that's another story) 1988 - Dodgers beat the A's in 5 2020 - Dodgers beat the Rays in 6 Whenever the Dodgers win the World Series, the Bengals promptly play in the Super Bowl. I noticed this some time after 1988. When LA won again in 2020, Burrow's rookie year, I figured there was no way the "streak" was going to continue. And then I forgot about it. I only recently remembered this correlation and realized, the Bengals simply took a year longer thanks to Burrow's knee injury. So having just seen the Reds get no-hit, sitting at the bottom of the Central, 10-games out, I'm thinking it's time to start pulling for LA again. Who Dey!

There's no correlation between the two.

I know it's entirely coincidental, sort of like the so-called Madden cover curse. Just found it to be....I guess "quirky" is a good way to describe it.
