  1. https://bengalswire.usatoday.com/2024/04/22/bengals-close-eye-mel-kiper-favorite-2024-nfl-draft-ot-prospect/ The Bengals are know for surprises in the draft. No, I do NOT expect to see this guy in round one. Last I heard of him was justrightnow. But if he's there in round 3... worth a thought. Bengals should keep close eye on Mel Kiper's favorite 2024 NFL draft OT prospect Most fans know the big names to watch for the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2024 NFL draft. But this late in the process, experts are more than happy to reveal some of their favorites who might currently fly under the proverbial radar. Take ESPN’s Mel Kiper, who just listed his favorite prospects at every position in the draft — and his name at offensive tackle is a surprise. It’s one the Bengals front office — and fans — should probably keep in mind, too: Washington offensive tackle Roger Rosengarten. (who?) Kiper says Rosengarten has gone overshadowed because of teammate Troy Fautanu (who Kiper lists as his favorite guard), but that he could slip into the first round: Sez Mel... "Rosengarten might have been a top-10 pick in next year’s draft if he had stayed in school for another season. That’s how highly I think of him. The 6-foot-5 308-pounder started at right tackle for the Huskies over the past two seasons, and he did not allow a single sack on 1,158 pass-blocking plays in that time frame. He locked down the blind side for left-handed quarterback Michael Penix Jr." This all puts Rosengarten is a really sweet spot for the Bengals. Maybe they agree with Kiper and strike a trade down from No. 18 to secure him later in the opening round while also acquiring more high-value draft picks. But the other side of that might be a trade up from No. 49 in the second round on Day 2. If Rosengarten slips to the second round, the Bengals have 10 picks and only so many roster spots, anyway. If they value him as long-term option behind Trent Brown, that’s worth a move up on Day 2. If nothing else, Rosengarten is clearly someone who should be on the mind of Bengals fans as things progress this week.
  2. Besides Bowers who won't be there, top priorities have to be O line and D line.
  3. Oh, I totally agree. Someone will slide I simply do not think it will be Murphy. If he does, The Bengals should be on him like Stink on Stealers. As we know... five of the top 17 will be quarterbacks some of whom artificially inflated because next year is a poor quarterback draft (per an article I read and cannot find) barring a few early declarations (Arch's grandson and namesake?).
  4. J.C. Latham. I'm good with that. Hope he drops to 18. My thinking is if we see these guys as special (Murphy, Mims, etc) so do other people and they will be gone. Latham projects quite high in the OT rankings and hope he drops. But In Dave I Trust.
  5. I'm doing my annual abstaining for fear I will jinx it. And I would like to see T Dub uncloak from the stealth mode and vote. And whoever we pick... I hope we Fuck the Stealers. That has a nice ring to it, Fuck the Stealers.
  6. https://www.cincinnati.com/story/sports/nfl/bengals/2024/04/21/heres-cincinnati-bengals-writer-kelsey-conways-look-at-the-first-three-rounds-of-the-nfl-dmock-draft/ Enquirer's Kelsey Conway's Three Round Mock Cheat Sheet: 1. Byron Murphy 2. Keon Coleman WR Florida State 3. Blake Fisher, the other Notre Dame OT :::::::::::::::: the fatal error here for her like everyone else picking Byron Murphy in the first round (I, too, would love it) is he won't be there.
  7. https://sports.yahoo.com/2024-nfl-draft-top-10-offensive-line-prospects-anchored-by-stars-from-penn-state-notre-dame-154407744.html Top Ten Offensive Linemen ... interesting take, Cheat sheet: 1. Fashanu 2. Alt 3. Latham 4. Fautanu 5. Mims 6. Barton 7. Fuaga 8.Suamataia 9. Morgan 10. Powers-Johnson I would love to get Powers-Johnson if for no other reason than to screw over the Stealers
  8. I'm adding Mims to the "I don't think he will be there" list with Bowers (of course) and Murphy.
  9. I would change it to Ja'Marr Chase and... some other jags.
  10. Too big of an "if". Does he have enough years to retire?
  11. Would not mind and nor be surprised if they used one of the extra third round picks, ie the freebee they got for renting out Vonn Bell for a year, to trade up in round two for a juicy slider who is higher in the round,. I just do not want to see a wide receiver taken until Round three at the highest.
  12. I don't think he, like the tight end, will be there. Unfortunately. Ergo not getting my hopes up. One more week...
  13. Browns bring back white face masks, making a big deal about it. Yeah, I couldn't give a shit, either.
  14. Bottom line is Baltimore is one injury to Lemur away from Palookaville. Same for Kansas City and Mahones. I honestly do now wish ill, harm or injury on anyone but they're overdue. Just sayin' And every one of us here knows how that affects a team.
  15. That's how he explained his to his wife, got it from a toilet seat in the post office, rather than hanging around the public restrooms on the interstate with Ben Rothlisburger.
  16. With Byron Murphy and Mims still on the board? Child, please. Pittsburgh getting Jackson Powers-Johnson is quite possible and a scary thought.
  17. Ancient Bengals History... In the 1977 Draft Paul Brown used a 4th round draft pick for Georgia ORT Mike Wilson who would have gone in the first round if he had not already signed a contract with Toronto in the CFL. He played there a year before coming to the Bengals to play ORT for many years overlooked because he played next to ORG Max Montoya and he was the book end for young OLT Anthony Munoz. He was one of my favorite Bengals ever. Mike Wilson was overlooked and underrated.
  18. If Murphy happens to be there in round one (not likely) you have to take him and go OT in round two. If one of the aforementioned do not slide or you don't trade up for one who does (would love that) then one of the guys mentioned, perhaps. The rap on Paul is he is a bit older than the other
  19. Late round/free agent fodder? Maybe Jackie Treehorn can give us a scouting report. Bengals meet with NFL Draft prospect from Toronto Argonauts Some players' journeys to the NFL are very different from others, and that can be exemplified in the 2024 NFL Draft with Toronto cornerback Qwan’tez Stiggers. Stiggers played the 2023 season with the CFL’s Toronto Argonauts and, despite being born in America, never played college football. That hasn’t stopped the Cincinnati Bengals and many other NFL teams from showing interest in the former CFL star. According to Aaron Wilson. Stiggers has a visit planned with the Bengals on Wednesday. During his freshman year of college, Stiggers ended up dropping out due to a tragedy in his family while being there on scholarship. After a couple of years away from the sport, he eventually started back up in a small indoor football league, where former CFL offensive coordinator Josh Jenkins was coaching. He convinced Stiggers to try out and was able to help him get a tryout with the Argonauts, who eventually signed him. Despite his lack of playing experience, he played in all 16 games for the Argonauts as a rookie, recording 53 tackles and five interceptions. He was also named the CFL’s most outstanding rookie and named an East All-Star. Following that, Stiggers got some NFL interest as he received an invite to the East-West Shrine Bowl, where he played well. He seems to have caught the attention of the NFL for sure, as he is represented on Day 3 of several large boards, such as Dane Brugler, who lists him as a sixth-round pick. The Bengals need a backup at outside corner for 2024 and beyond, and if Stiggers is available on Day 3, that could be a value too good to pass up on. He has all the size and measurables and was able to step into a league that, while not being the NFL, is still very competitive overall. He even had five interceptions in his debut season for the CFL, and with that being his first and only year playing real football since he graduated high school in 2020, that suggests he still has room to grow and develop as a player. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::; Article confusing in that did they already meet with him or are they going to meet with him Wednesday? Didn't read anything locally or on Bengals.com. Not a Precinct dinner kind of guy but probably good for a Skyline 4-Way and a few cheese conies. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: I do not like the term "develop as a player" and it was used about a couple of the OT's in a previous post. But, as noted by others on here, the Bengals do have a lot of draft picks and can draft a couple to push borderline vets and contribute on special teams. Or even develop on the practice squad to step up and in when ready. We'll see.
  20. https://www.cincyjungle.com/2024/4/16/24124936/2024-nfl-draft-day-2-offensive-tackle-options-bengals Nice article on OT's who may be there and of interest for Round Two if the Bengals would go Byron Murphy in Round 1... which I would not mind at all. Some familiar names here.... Patrick Paul, Houston Javon Foster, Missouri Jordan Morgan, Arizona Tyler Guyton, Oklahoma Kingsley Suamataia, BYU All seem to have high upside but still... some "ifs", question marks and disclaimers but all have the dreaded Po-ten-tial. Dunno... could be a Jackson Carman or Dumwad Jones.
  21. I'm liking this guy more and more. Great upbeat attitude and seems like he really wants to be here. Hope he is here a lot longer than the one year contract. (assuming, of course, things work out well on the field)
