Recommended Posts
I read on the SI.com Truth & Rumors site, and also heard from a friend in Philly, that it lloks like Philly will be letting Darwin Walker go soon. I know he used to be a highly thought of DT, does anyone have any links/info?
No links or info, but I've always liked Walker as a rotation guy. He can get to the QB.

Eagles | Team may trade Walker
Thu, 22 Mar 2007 14:21:52 -0700

Bob Brookover, of Philadelphia Inquirer, reports the Philadelphia Eagles may try to trade DL Darwin Walker, after the signing of DT Montae Reagor.

Don't think he would be much of an upgrade over what we have.

Here is what scouts, inc. has to say about him:
Walker is quick, active and experienced. He is somewhat versatile. He has played three-technique and nose tackle. He is at his best using his first-step quickness and hitting gaps. He reads quickly and gets good jumps on plays. He is tough to block when slanted into gaps. He can get sideways, make himself skinny and give linemen little surface to block. He can play laterally and has the quickness to get down the line and make plays. He uses his hands well to keep blockers off his lower body. He is a solid wrap-up tackler who strikes with force. But Walker is aging and coming off an injury-plagued 2005. He isn't a power player. He isn't physical at the point of attack and doesn't split double-team blocks effectively. He won't stack, shed and make tackles in the hole. He has lost some pass-rushing ability. He no longer gets on the edges quickly. He doesn't counter effectively when he gets tied up.
and for comparison here is their assessment of JT:
Thornton is athletic, versatile and experienced. He has good recognition skills and instincts. He is rangy and moves well laterally. He has a good feel for blocking patterns and can find the ball quickly. He is a good tackler who makes the most of his chances in a short area. He is pretty effective in pursuit. As a pass rusher, he has good initial quickness and anticipation off the snap. He has a strong club move and closes hard on quarterbacks. He gets good inside hand placement when pushing the pocket. He can translate speed into power. He can be active off inside games. But Thornton is short and lack ideal bulk. He is a one-gap player who must be on the move to be effective against upfield run schemes. He doesn't always hold the point and struggles to stack and shed. He isn't especially explosive with his hands. He struggles to redirect.
and Sam Adams:
Adams is a massive, powerful veteran. He contributes mostly in base packages. He is a space-eater who can be very difficult to move off the line when he maintains pad level. He can be a dominating interior run defender. He likes to lead with his shoulders when trying to create a new line of scrimmage. He has above-average lateral range, especially for his size. He has the strong hands and arms to lock out and control the point of attack. He can stack and shed with explosive force in a confined area. He can be disruptive attacking gaps. He is a strong tackler in the box. He is an upfield power rusher who relies on strength and leverage to push the inside pocket. He still has pretty decent anticipation at the snap. But Adams is aging and has skills that are in decline. He lacks the lateral mobility, speed and quickness to be effective off inside games. He seems to lack stamina late in games and lose effectiveness as a pass rusher.
And Domato Peko:
A big, strong two-gap DT/NT prospect. Possesses good height and bulk. Is naturally strong. Thickly built with powerful legs. He is tough to move in the running game. Shows adequate initial quickness to establish positioning. When he plays with leverage he can do a great job of occupying blockers. He plays hard in spurts and can be very effective. He shows the strength to drive through blocks. Shows very good tackling skills in space for his size. Continues to improve with more experience and his best football could be ahead of him.
Guest happyrid
He must have a somehat reasonable contract or the Eagles would just cut him instead of trying to trade him. Anyone have the details of it?

Eagles are one of the most frugal teams in the league. I think they will still cut him. I think no one will make this trade because they know this.
