  1. I would have just paid A'Shawn Robinson what he got from the Panthers. 7.5 mil on a 3 year deal. He's a good run stopper, doesn't provide much pass rush. If we'd signed him and Eluemunor, we'd be ready to go for the draft. Bring back some of the depth guys like Bailey and Irwin and Wilcox and Scharping and Tupou. They'll be cheap, close to min. Then the draft would be open for us. Or we could trade Tee and picks for JJ, etc.
  2. Er, what about the Bengals desire for a tackle who is better than Jonah? If he comes back, it better not be for more than 1 year. Bengals should have just paid Eluemunor an extra half mil over what he got from the Giants. He signed for 2 years/14 mil. That would have either given us a very good swing tackle in reserve or a decent starter at RT and no need to draft one unless they were good value.
  3. Tyler Eifert tweeted that he had a source saying Jefferson was coming to Cincinnati. No idea how or why Eifert would know that. Smells like BS but would be nice if true.
  4. They're scoring based on the film. YOE is a combination of yards after contact (or really yards gained more than average after contact) and yards gained by being quicker than average to the hole or the corner, where an average RB would have been hit and stopped. Achane got a lot of those.
  5. Yeah, Tee isn't getting hosed. IMO his market value is below 22 mil. It's certainly lower than Pittman's, who got 23 on his extension.
  6. Ravens have lost LG John Simpson to the Jets and Zeitler is a free agent. Henry has clearly lost a step. He had fewer yard from scrimmage than Mixon last year.
  7. Brooks would be the top RB in this class if he hadn't gotten hurt. So he probably needs a redshirt year anyway. I wouldn't object to taking him at the end of the 3rd round.
  8. The new Seahawks coach, Mike McDonald is expected to be interested in several former Ravens. I wouldn't be surprised if Clowney is next to sign there. Since they cut Diggs and Adams, I wonder why they didn't go after Stone?
  9. Only if he's going to be ready for preseason. If he'll be starting on PUP, we should move on. We also need a vet swing tackle.
  10. Surprised they wanted that contract. Is it a 2024 7th or something conditional for a future year?
  11. That just says the Bengals O-line coach won't be there. I'm sure there will be Bengals folks at Oklahoma's pro day.
  12. They aren't going to give Tee 30 mil per. But they need to give Bryce Young a chance and Tee helps there compared to taking a rookie WR. Those have a high bust rate and even the ones who succeed usually take 2 or 3 years to get going. Alternatively, the Bengals could ask for a player in the trade, say Derrick Brown. Likewise with other teams.
  13. This is a good idea. Typically picks are discounted by 1 round per year delayed. And teams usually use the middle of the round on their pick value chart but sometimes you know a team will be bad and their pick will be worth more. That's one of the reasons it was a mistake for the Bengals to not take advantage of the Titans last year when we picked Myles Murphy as they were trying to trade up for Will Levis. We could have had Dawand Jones and Darnell Washington last year plus the Titans second rounder this year.
  14. That increase in the cap will be absorbed by contracts the team wants to get done next year. An extension for Chase, new contracts for Cappa and Karras or their replacements. Also the BJ Hill and Sam Hubbard replacements, etc. Tee isn't going to sit out 10 games and give up 14 mil. The Bengals aren't going to tag him again next year if he wants out. Carolina seems a likely spot. They just got an early 2nd from the Giants and avoided paying a DE 30 mil per year.
  15. Mixon was a goner from the start. Moss is ok but I'd still take a RB on day 3. Getting the 3rd round comp pick will free up a 4th or 5th for the running back.
  16. In the "dogs that didn't bark in the night" category, it seems like it's all quiet on the Jonah Williams front. I hope the Bengals plan isn't to wait him out til his price drops, then re-sign him. We should have outbid the Giants for Eluemunor. Now we can sign a Fleming or Fant or Becton but will still have to use an early pick on a RT. We should give up on Reader if his price is 15 mil or higher. That's as much as he made last year when he was healthy and a year younger. We can go after an A'Shawn Robinson or Sheldon Rankins. They're solid vets who will be cheaper than Reader and let us draft a DT at our convenience instead of need.
  17. Then the Bengals would owe him 26 mil for just 2025 and that becomes the baseline on a new contract. But the team will be wanting to extend Chase next offseason so they probably won't actually tag Tee again.
  18. 10% of 265 is 26.5 mil. Shocker, right. The Bengals will go into the season with less than 26.5 mil of cap space once they are done with free agency, signing rookies, extending McPherson and perhaps others, etc. Today is just the first day of the negotiating period for UFAs.
  19. Unless he signs the tender, he's not under contract and can't be fined. Bengals can tag him again next year for an additional 20% raise or about 26 mil. If he holds out, the team can drop the tag and make him a free agent if they wish. But he can wait until week 11 to show up and be on the roster for 6 games to get credit for the year. As a practical matter if he's not traded, he'll sign and show up for week 1.
  20. I'm glad we didn't sign Townsend or Noah Fant at those prices. Restructuring everyone is how the Saints got into cap hell. They have lots of players they can't cut because the dead money is greater than their current year cap hit.
  21. Bengals should have been in on him. He express interest in joining the team and that price is pretty reasonable. Would have meant we didn't have to use an early pick on a tackle. He's much better than Becton or Fant or whomever we end up with.
  22. Not sure what you are missing. With the money they carried over from last year added to this year's cap, they can spend up to $265 mil this season. They currently have 217 mil committed, leaving them 48 mil available to spend. These numbers don't include today's free agent deals which can't be officially signed or submitted until Wednesday. https://overthecap.com/salary-cap/cincinnati-bengals
  23. If there's a bidding war for Reader, the Bengals should drop out.
