  1. What position would he play and for the love of god..please don't say LG
  2. Signing Campbell would be a good move, he's a great locker-room guy and is good against the run.
  3. They did from what I could tell, but he wanted to weigh his options and left town without signing it. I know in years past players and their agents would come to Cincy to set a market and drum up interest only to get another team to sign them for a similar deal..not sure if that was Becton's play but thankfully the door on him going to this team has closed. Sounds like he took this opportunity for granted, it will be interesting to see where he lands.
  4. I thought you wanted to be friends...what happened??
  5. It's easy to say that after they get the deal done...you seemed triggered..lol
  6. To your point, the guys who say that come off like used car salesmen trying to sell you a lemon...i.e. La'El Collins getting a Bengals tattoo and talking all this stuff about being a bodyguard when he knew he was banged up and couldn't play well...he was trying to win over the fanbase and provide cover for when he got on the field it was obvious he's a liability. It's a business and these guys are independent contractors, so maximizing their earning potential is paramount.
  7. I'm sure he wants more money than Becton, but with the increase in the cap and Jonah's salary coming off the books that shouldn't have been a factor. The Bengals should be trying to get the absolute best 5 players they can get to play offensive line, not who the mediocre at best offensive line coach has a relationship with...seriously, what are they doing???
  8. If Brown is such an obvious upgrade over Becton, who didn't want to play here...why did the Bengals not target Brown from the beginning of FA, like why waste time on a lesser player like Becton? Is it purely because of the Frank Pollack connection, because if so that is a huge waste of time and misstep? This idea that Pollack was going to rehab Becton's career is hilarious because he hasn't been able to develop one decent starter out of the 7 draft picks the Bengals have used on the offensive line in the past 5 years. These are talented players who have all the tools to be successful but Pollack has only managed to get one to start, and he's the worst player on the offensive line, a legit liability that should be replaced. The Bengals wasted a whole week on Becton when they should have been targeting Brown from the beginning, but better late than never...I guess...let's hope they get a deal done with Brown.
  9. My only concern with taking him at #18 is that he's run down only type of player and typically those guys aren't drafted in the first round, if he's there in the 2nd round then, yes, take him. Also, to your point these big guys get worn down as the season goes along, he needs to be apart of a deep rotation. The Eagles drafted Jordan Davis in the top 10 last year and by the end of the season he was useless because he was playing more snaps at a higher level than he had ever played in his life. Yeah, I think he had a medical issue which is why he fell last year and he did end up getting hurt...Brown would be an ideal signing, but pairing him with a first-round rookie RT would be a huge get. Just sign him to a big 1 year deal, similar to Collins, with tons of incentives on playing time. Looks like Karras and Joey B are going back to Ruby's...it's a tough job but those steaks aren't going to eat themselves...lol
  10. LOL...what...no...crazy man...why would we trade a former first-round pick that has played well enough and has a future on this team when they can sign or draft a NT. I don't think the Bengals or any NFL team takes that approach to the draft, where they move a guy up their draft board because of who they are not able to sign in FA. If they did that they would over draft players consistently, which doesn't help the player or the team. A player gets a draft grade that is determined by their ability and production during college, not by who the team was able to sign in FA. It's called staying true to the draft board, doing what you are suggesting would get you fired. Not surprised that he's getting a bad rap, getting released by 2 teams in one season isn't a good look. Both teams need DTs and one team released him and another team didn't bother to bring him back, similar to Becton but not worse..imo.
  11. I like the Rankins signing, he will improve the interior pass rush but they need to get a run stuffer to combat the teams in this division that ran all over the defense last year. Having Bell back and adding Stone should improve the run defense but they need a space eater that can dominate the line of scrimmage. Not thrilled about expecting a rookie to come in and be that guy as there is a huge difference between the NFL and CFB when it comes to technique and strength on the lines of scrimmage. Tart would be the next target as he's best player at position of need.
  12. Because we have dirt on Callahan and made him do it...
  13. I'm glad to see the Bengals brought back Vonn, he was a glue guy who made everyone better...I wish he would have never left, probably could have made the playoffs if he was here instead of that dumpster fire of a franchise in Carolina. The Bell, Stone, and Rankins signings are are all quality moves, just waiting to see what the front office does about RT...there weren't many options available going into FA and there are even fewer now. I see that former first-round pick Andre Dillard was just cut by the Titans, the Bengals need to sign him ASAP
  14. Brian Callahan just did us a solid and released Andre Dillard, the Bengals should be all over him like a Spider Monkey..
  15. You mean reality...you sound like a delusional parent that swears that lil Johnny is a good kid, he just needs to stay away from the crystal meth and those bad kids who hang out in the alley... Look BJ we all know you love a dancing bear...can I interest you in Trent Brown...He's just as big as Becton coming in at 6'8" and 360 lbs but he has played good football in the NFL. In Becton's best year he gave up 7 sacks, to me that screams he's not that good...
  16. Brown has been a better player and is less risky, but he doesn't know Frank Pollack so I don't know if that would work out...lol
  17. Hopefully, someone at PBS has come to their senses and realized that Becton is a bum that isn't worth being signed, regardless of how big he is..he sucks at playing football. The Jets had one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL since he got there, drafted him #11 overall, and made no attempts to re-sign him...instead they replaced him as soon as possible, that should tell you everything you need to know about Becton. Being big is cool but being able to play football at a high level is better
  18. lol...bro..you keep posting random fans opinions as if that is helping make your point...Will Lutz is a marketing guy..https://www.linkedin.com/in/willie-lutz-027026134/ His eyes for oline talent evaluation doesn't mean shit because he's a fan just like you and me...all of these guys you keep posting are just parroting opinions and giving uneducated takes to talk themselves into agreeing with whatever moves the Bengals might make. Willie Lutz's eye's for oline play is worth fuck all...he doesn't anything about Carman's floor and Becton's ceiling, he's just talking out of his ass.
  19. He also gave up 7 sacks and 7 holding calls in 2020, if Carman or any other player had that stat line you and everyone else would be saying they need to be replaced.
  20. That was against lesser competition, he will be facing elite athletes, not bums in the ACC...Myles Garrett and Watt are not toys and if anyone will be getting thrown around it's Becton. The Bengals definitely would start Becton because they are starting Volson, who is also a diaster, it's what they do...And if you are moving him around to play positions he's never played before, why not move him to RB, TE, or DT...this isn't Madden where you can change someone's position by clicking a few buttons and it works out fine. You are trying to use random scouting reports from non-NFL scouts based on what could happen vs. the last 4 years of tape on what has occurred to say that the Bengals should sign this guy. Mike Renner is an accounting major that has never played NFL football, worked as scout for any NFL team, but got a job at PFF and his now a draft guru because??? Mike Renner is watching film just like me and you giving us his uneducated opinion, it's worthless and doesn't cover up the last 4 years of bad or non-existent play of Becton. What makes you think Carman and Smith have reached their ceiling but Becton has not, because he's bigger than them? There are plenty of big guys who can't play RT in the NFL at a high level, elite measurables don't mean shit if you can't put it all together and play consistently good football.
  21. Are you sure about that, this is the same front office that re-signed and started multiple awful offensive linemen over the past few years, including Bobby Hart because and I quote current Bengals VP and Pumpkin's boy toy..Troy Blackburn.. This was 5 years ago and the same decision makers are still in place and the Bengals still haven't found a solution to the RT problem, despite multiple picks and paying Bobby Hart 17 million dollars. I don't trust this front office and coaching staff to get this right because time shown that they are not capable of doing so..
  22. He's low-cost for a reason, he's not very good at playing football in the NFL...High reward comes with high risk, that's the other side of the deal...you don't get something for nothing. The Jets need offensive linemen, if he was worth a damn they would re-sign him, because to your point..he's low cost..but they saw how badly he practiced/played and didn't even offer a vet minimum deal. Outside of the Bengals is any other teams showing interest in Becton? The answer is no, because he's not a good NFL football player. Could he develop into one? Maybe, but it is highly unlikely he will. Do you want to risk Burrow's health and on the slim chance Becton does a 180 turn in his career and becomes this high-reward player? I don't. The Bengals have backup RT's on the roster, Smith, Carmen, Ford, etc..can all play at the same level as Becton is capable of playing, I just don't see the point of adding him to this roster. The Bengals need starting caliber players and Becton is not that.
