Great article, great post.
I've been tooting that kid's horn since I fist saw him at MIdnight Madness...
He is great, but in no way NBA ready.
We need to hang on to him as long as we can...
And that Florida game was a nail-biter...

Rondo is a top talent but will leave after next year. Thank God we don't have to settle for JC players that suck. For you UC fans that can read, very few no doubt, that's a shot at you. How in the hell do you sorry asses manage to lose every Saturday? Then your thug asses have the nerve to try and compare yourselves to the greatest program in college basketball. UC sucks! Always has and always will!

Rondo is fun to watch and makes some amazing plays but is nowhere near ready as an NBA point guard...he can't shoot! His free throws are about 55% and his 3 ball is just plain ugly...good thing he can slash to the hoop to get the layups...and GOD, those steals!
And yeah, what a scrappy georgia team...but everyone in the SEC brings their "A" game to us, because they want to beat the best...so far it hasn't happened though!
Go Bengalrick with the cool pics!!!

South Carolina Hands Kentucky First Conference Loss

02/16/2005
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Tarence Kinsey scored 17 points and Carlos Powell had 12 in the second half to lead South Carolina to a rare victory over No. 3 Kentucky, 73-61 on Tuesday night.
It was the first home win for the Gamecocks (14-8, 6-5 Southeastern Conference) over the Wildcats (19-3, 10-1) since 1997, and it was just South Carolina's sixth victory in 41 meetings against Kentucky, which never looked in synch.

Fans poured onto the court after the victory, arguably South Carolina's best in coach Dave Odom's tenure, and Kinsey stood on press row, slapping high-fives with celebrating students.

The Wildcats, who had won 19 straight games against SEC opponents, had a season-high 21 turnovers and Chuck Hayes was held to just one point. Kelenna Azubuike led Kentucky with 16 points - five in the second half.

The near capacity crowd finally had something to cheer about after the Gamecocks' disappointing 74-71 home loss to Auburn on Saturday. South Carolina added a high-profile win as it attempts to build its NCAA tournament resume. The Gamecocks were 0-4 against ranked opponents coming into Tuesday's matchup, but they still have a game against No. 18 Alabama.

South Carolina built a 58-45 lead with 4:16 left after an 8-0 run and the Wildcats never seriously threatened again. The run featured a three-point play and dunk from Carlos Powell, the Gamecocks' leading scorer who had been held to just two points in the first half.

But South Carolina pounded the ball inside to Powell and Kentucky had no answer.

The Gamecocks had built a 12-point lead on some key long-range shooting by Kinsey, who was averaging 9.5 points a game. His fourth 3 of the game, a career-high, brought the crowd to its feet midway through the second half. Kinsey finished with five 3s, a career-high.

On the next trip down, he missed a 3, but Antoine Tisby followed with a dunk to cap a 13-2 run with 13:28 left in the first half.

It was Tisby's best game of the season. He had played just 8 minutes in the past five games, and didn't even make the trip to South Carolina's Jan. 29 game at Florida.

Kentucky couldn't make any key shots to get a run going in the second half, and could have been hung over from a sluggish nine-point win against Georgia over the weekend, after which coach Tubby Smith told his team he was ashamed of them.

Kentucky cut the lead to six with 10 minutes to go, but Rocky Trice's layup with 8:15 to go gave the Gamecocks a 48-38 lead.

Kentucky had 11 turnovers in the first half, which is just shy of the Wildcats' 12.9 average per game. They shot just 40 percent (8-for-20) from the field.

Smith tried to find a spark by benching his starters, which he did against Georgia last Saturday, but he didn't get the boost the Wildcats needed. Azubuike had 11 points in the first half, but Hayes was held to just a free throw.

The Gamecocks weren't much better, even though they led 25-23 at halftime. South Carolina shot 36.7 percent (11-for-30) from the field, including 2-of-10 on 3-pointers.

That was our worst game of the year. Poor defense, bad shooting from both the field and the line, a season-high turnover total, on the road....just plain ugly.
Tubby's feet are now covered with shit from sticking them so far up everyone's asses...we played like a Div II team tonight...just awful....
Black Jesus the Gamecock fan is sure to rub it in soon...
But it's OK...we're 19-3!!
That's pretty good given our youth and poor shooting at times.
I am still confident about our NCAA chances. We need more maturity still.
It might not be this year, but we have the freshman that are sure to get to the Final Four next season, if they all stay (and they should!).
And we still own the SEC.
We'll bounce back. Like we always do about this time... :D

I wouldn't reccomend watching it...we lost by twelve because we were completely overwhelmed by our lack of hustle, desire and shooting ability.
We were OWNED tonight, and it wasn't pretty, especially coming on the heels of our "promotion" to number 3 in today's polls...
We are overrated at #3 but are very good.
I actually feel better about our tournament chances with this unpredictable, freshman-filled squad this season than I did last...we didn't LOSE last year at the right time!
I am a proponent of the quality loss, the learning loss, in college basketball. We were cruising and it showed tonight. We cruised through conference play last year and ran into a wall in the NCAA's...and that was as the #1 overall seed in the tournament...
I think we roughshod our way to a 2 seed this year and advance farther than last year...I'm calling an Elite Eight year for us...I think the "light" is about to come on for many of our players, and I think this humiliating, ugly loss will be the fodder for that "light" coming on...Tubby sure won't let them forget it...
We have much to be thankful for as UK fans... :D

i called this when i said we had too big of a head and weren't as good as they are ranked... if there is a thing as a good loss, this would be it... the only problem is they need to start putting it into overdrive now...

I fail to see what UC`s record has to do with
Kensucky being pounded by the GameCocks ?

But UC`s record is 18-6. They have lost 4 of those games
to top 12 teams (2 games to top 5 teams).
They have lost 3 more games than your
highly touted Kensucky team.

UC fans kill me. You talk about a bunch of jealous bastards. It's almost March though, and you know how quite those dumb bastards get when March comes. Hell, they won't even look at ya. Yeah, they are a cowardly bunch of wannabe pukes. Here's a sign for you UC pukes:

While I tend to keep personal attacks to a minimum, sometimes my Tourette's kicks in <<UC SUCKS!!>> and I like to be evenhanded <<FUCK UC>> and purely subjective <<HUGGINS IS A DRUNK!>> when being critical of <<CRIMINALS!!>> other b-ball teams , for sheer respect for the other teams' fans <<MAXIELL IS GARCIA'S BITCH>> feelings.
Remember most UC fans are also Bengal fans...they are jealous and desirous of GREATNESS.
I like your sentiment, just not your delivery.
Everybody's different.
And UC still blows red cottage cheese....
Witness the Mighty Blue Sig...touch it for luck...it won't bite...
Look at all those banners...

Good one Bunghole! On most occasions I just laugh and go on but every now and then you have to shove the banners in their sorry, wannabe faces and laugh at the buffoons. After all, it's not our fault we root for the greatest basketball power in the land. Just imagine how small and unimportant they must feel....
