Because right now it is. No bias, no shit. It is more livable, and growing faster than the fungus under your toenails. I like Cincinnati. I think it is one of the best cities in the USA in terms of balance. It offers a lot and the negatives are few, unless you're looking for all-night raves or rampant prostitution. I don't want dowtown Cincinnati to die, or become a hotbed of crime, I want Cincy to [i]LIVE[/i]. But there's no doubting the strides Newport and Covington are making against downtown, couple that with the racial/riot fears, a sub-par economical enviornment for growth=what we have now. You like UC, I like UK....whatever. We BOTH [b]LOVE[/b] The Bengals and Cincinnati, so we are united as far as I'm concerned. Cincinnati is crap, it all rains down from the "offices" here, the politics of cincinnati are sad. it is republican-ism to the T.... rich get richer... poor steal shit from the middleclass, rich move to different area, then get richer again. |Bunghole| Posted February 2, 2005 Report Share Posted February 2, 2005 I think that is a decidedly negative and stereotypical outlook, that, while holding some truth, ignores the fact that Cincy is an ethnically diverse city that isn't as Republican-dominated as you may believe. Yeah, the council is for shit right now, but there are dissenting liberal voices on it that balance the conservatives.... That is why I mentioned "balance" when it comes to Cincy. I speak of it as a whole, not just the blighted dowtown areas (and not ALL are blighted). There is a lot to do here, and it isn't limited to taking in Reds and Bengals games...we have CULTURED activities galore! It is a well-balanced city, despite riots and whatever. This place is a wanna-be a bigtime city reconciling it's expansion and existence with religious, conservative and family-oriented Mid-West values. Most of which aren't wrong in any way. I guess it just depends on your opinion... I like all the places you mentioned (Blue Ash, Sycamore, Montgomery, all the white middle-class places), but there is more. I have friends that live in Over The Rhine and they try to convince me they wouldn't live anywhere else. I smile and concede the fact that they're all single white dudes in rock bands that party their asses off with no responsibilities...
