Does Griffey Jr have a no trade clause?

I have a bet going with a friend. I say he doesnt have a no trade clause, and my friend says he does. I am almost positive he didnt have one and when he was signed, Carl "keep em till they die" Linder was in charge and it was basically a verbal understanding that Griffey would never be traded to someone he didnt want to go to, but he had no formal contract stating that.

I also remember the failed Phil Nevin deal, where Nevin blocked the trade, and I remember griffey saying something along the lines of "if they trade me, they trade me. I cant do anything about it"....

Does anyone have a link or concrete proof (article or anything) that will help me win my money?

I thought he had a no-trade clause myself, but after reading this http://espn.go.com/mlb/news/2002/1213/1476386.html I think you may be correct.

Edit-according to this article though,Griffey could have vetoed the trade.

I think it's more of a players union thing, and not "a clause" expressly worded into a player contract. Something to do with time in the leauge, senority...so many years in the bigs, with the same team or something gives the player the choice of accepting or rejecting a trade.
Griffey won't ask for trade
BY JOHN FAY | JFAY@ENQUIRER.COM

Ken Griffey Jr. has made no secret about his desire to win a World Series ring.

Even though it looks like the Reds have no chance of getting there this year, Griffey said he won't ask to be moved to a team in contention.

"I don't even think about that," he said. "That's the furthest thing from my mind."

Griffey's name has been mentioned in trade rumors. He's having a very good year - .287, 18 home runs, 43 RBI.

If the Reds were to trade Griffey, they would have to get his permission. He's a 10-and-5 player - 10-year veteran, five with the same club - and thereby can veto any trade.

"I'll cross that bridge when I have to," he said. "It's a matter of trying to do what I can for this team. I can't control what happens upstairs.

"I'm employee No. 3."

Griffey says he's tried to not let the losing get him down.

"I don't really think that," he said. "Losing is not fun. I obviously don't like it. (But) every game, something good happens. You try to build on that.

"Nobody thought we'd be in the position we're in. It's up to everyone in here not to try to do more than you're capable of.

"It's not a lack of effort."
So he could have actually rejected the supposed Nevin trade at the time because he would have had his 5 years in with Cincy. The Nevin trade was rumored last year correct?Feb of 05 he completed his 5th year.

that was rumored for like the past 3 years and ya he could have vetoed.

Heard a rumor that Clay Hensley and some MR/SP Hansen (a lefty) was offered for Adam Dunn from SD. I bet it was bullshit though.
