Full of random non sequiturs that are supposed to be profound, and very little actually happens. I've read Crime & Punishment too and found that lackluster as well. I guess I'm just not a Dostoevsky fan. I'd like to make fun of it with someone else who's read it. "Oh Grushenka, please come here! I have 3,000 rubles in an envelope! Grusha! Agrafena!" I consider “Crime and Punishment†one of my faves, but this one didn’t do anything for me … I had considered picking it up again sometime, but now I don’t think I’ll bother. Thanks for taking the bullet for me …[/quote] It does become palatable after the awful Zosima dies, and then proceeds to stink up the monastery (and the other monks make fun of him, in the Chapter "The Odor of Corruption").
