Captain Awesome
I don't know how many on the message board follow MMA, but Kimbo Slice is fighting Tank Abbott tonight on Showtime's Elite XC (extreme combat) a showtime promotion to comptete with the UFC. Fight starts at 10 pm EST, and is on Direct TV 537 (I don't know what the local cable channels would be). I haven't seen this topic posted, so if it is already sorry. Go Tory Go!
I'll pick Kimbo to win this fight.
Careful - Kimbo is best when fighting in somebody's backyard, or in a parking lot. In a ring, he may be out of his element, like a fish out of water.
Captain Awesome
Actually Kimbo completely dominated the fight, and KO'd tank at 43 seconds into the first round. But Go Tory Go, I know exactly what you are saying. If Kimbo were to fight someone who isn't a straight brawler, a submission specialist or kimbo was taken down by true ground and pound guy, then he could be out of his element. But Tank charged in and ate punch after punch until he was knocked down and then eventually knocked out. The commentators stated that they believed that Kimbo might face Ken Shamrock, if Shamrock won an upcoming fight in March. I was under the impression that Ken retired from MMA after losing to Tito Ortiz for a second time. I guess Showtime is throwing money at all the former UFC fighters to build their brand. If Showtime could sign Randy Couture (after the lawsuit with the UFC is settled), and have Randy face Kimbo then I think Kimbo would be outclassed. But if EliteXC keeps feeding him brawlers and past their prime fighters, then I can see Kimbo going undefeated for a while. Because Goldberg said it best, "Kimbo Slice puts asses in seats." I would like to see Kimbo vs. Mike Tyson.

I don't harbour enough knowledge of the sport to articulate the specific style of fighter capable of taking down Kimbo. I was referring to my understanding of Kimbo as a brawler who thrives on the raw grime of the local beat-em-up circuit. I suppose what he said is just a more technical way of stating this.
