I've been meaning to make a theremin for awhile now. Got a pretty good set of plans, just need to spend an hour and order all the parts.

I had a friend who hooked a homemade theramin into his guitar, making the strings one of the antennae. You only get to use it one or two times during a show, but it's impressive when you do.

That's not a bad idea actually. Instead of a permanent antennae just putting a 1/4 inch jack and then soldering an antennae to such a plug when you don't hook up an electric. I'm surprised he doesn't get some odd really unuseable distortion out of it though.
