A little perspective

Recommended Posts

Had bad losses during the season

December 11 at Houston Oilers L 6-41 50,269 Astrodome 1988

December 6 San Francisco L 3-21 56,796 Riverfront 1981

October 25 at New Orleans L 7-17 46,336 Louisiana Superdome 1981

...and I know other Super Bowl teams have had similar losses during their season.

I guess my point is that even though I was extremely disappointed in the way we lost, the mistakes can be corrected.

This season is not over and I actually truly believe we take it to the Chargers this week!

"Great teams are not always great, they are just great when they have to be!"

Edit: And yes..it is "Time for Simpson"....at least put him out there for a couple plays and see if he can help....

If your old enough to remember our Superbowl years (as I am), I'll bet you've never seen a passing offense as bad as this year. Even when we had David Klinger and Akili Smith, our passing game was better than what we're seeing in 2009. It flabbergasts me to think that with a probowl QB and probowl Receiver, we can't break 100 yards passing.

Thank god we have a running game and a defense this year or else we would be in the same boat as Cleveland and Detroit.

I think you're giving Akili too much credit - check out his numbers from Weeks 6 to 13 back in 2000:

Wk 6: 10/23, 85 yds, 0 TD, 0 INT
Wk 7: 10/20, 97 yds, 0 TD, 0 INT (Scott Mitchell added 4/16, 39 yds, 0TD, 2 INT)
Wk 8: 2/9, 34 yds, 0 TD, 0 INT (Mitchell added 0/5, 0yds, but Dillon had 278 yds and we won)
Wk 9: 7/20, 84 yds, 0 TD, 1 INT (somehow we won 2 in a row with a total of 118 passing yds!)
Wk 10:15/27, 137 yds, 0 TD, 0 INT
Wk 11:10/25, 68 yds, 0 TD, 1 INT
Wk 13: 10/20, 125 yds, 1 TD, 0 INT

Over 7 games the Bengals averaged 9.7/23.6 (41% completion rate), 95.6 yards per game, 0.14 TDs, 0.57 INTs, and only broke 100 yards passing 3 times. This year's passing game hasn't been great, but it's nowhere near the 2000 level of ineptitude.

Bullshit. The years of Carson Palmer must have spoiled you cause you are clearly forgetting what the Akili, Klinger year were like.
