OK, his voice is making a cameo, but you get the point. The Bengals receiver recorded some voice work for Squidbillies on Monday morning, which is a part of Cartoon Network's "Adult Swim" block of programming. Because Squidbillies co-creator David Willis talked with us back in the day and was kind enough to do all those Carl from Aqua Teen Hunger Force interviews for Sporting News Radio, I had to hit him up to get the details. By e-mail, Willis fills us in on all the particulars. Spoilers ahead, if you're worried about that episode:
Yes, Ochocinco did play himself this morning for Squidbillies. He was awesome! Really funny. Put his own spin on the lines. Rusty is being heavily recruited by college coaches for his speed, ability to catch and "elusive inkiness". Dan Halen is recruiting Rusty to play at vaunted Sheetrock University, the best college team money can buy. Unbeknown to the NCAA, Ochocinco has been spending his Saturdays as a wideout for Sheetrock U over the past nine years – supposedly getting a graduate degree "in case the whole pro football thing doesn't work out".
By the way, the image above in this post is just bad Photoshop on my part. No actual images from the episode are available yet. It's set to air sometime this summer. The fifth season of Squidbillies debuts in May.

Ochocinco is known to be a man of many tastes, but how did this marriage actually come together? Once again, we go to Willis for the explanation.
Jim Fortier (the other writer/producer) and I are both football fans, and Jim follows Ochocinco's tweets. We were both a fan of the HBO Hard Knocks show and love what he's doing in the league, so we wanted to somehow get him involved with our show. I doubt he knew what Squidbillies was before last week, but I think it speaks well for him that he wasn't afraid to goof on his own image in our show.
If you're unfamiliar with the show, it takes place in rural Georgia and there are copious references to the Georgia Bulldogs, Herschel Walker and Gator Hating. (Great example in this clip, with some NSFW-ishness.) One of the Squidbillies characters, Early Cuyler, actually stepped in and did NFL picks this week in place of Carl from ATHF on AdultSwim.com. (Once again, language warning.)

(VIDEO IS IN THE LINK BELOW)

When there's some video or art available from the episode, I'll be sure to get it on the site. It's this kind of great meeting of the minds that we need more of on TV.
