If the act is dissent against the government, then Vote. Oh you were not happy with the results and the person you voted for was not elected or the referendum did not turn out your way and your recourse is to burn the flag as a means of showing your displeasure. While I see your point and I agree that I hate to see the flag burned and would never do it myself, I do not think it should be outlawed. The flag symbolizes a lot of things for a lot of people. Someone burning the flag doesn't change one bit how I feel about my country. Why give them more power by making that action mean something? It's not like it's done very often, and anyone brave enough to try it is sure as hell putting their life on the line for being beaten up by people who think they shouldn't be burning the flag.
