The reason we have not been as successful lately is because of our recent drafts.  Just too many average to below average players in the first two rounds.  Those guys need to be decent starters.

Fuck comp picks... I'd rather we win football games.

 

While it sometimes works in our favor, last year would've been a helluva lot different had we played with an actual NFL level offensive line.

To add to this, we've been total dog shit at finding good players in the later rounds. Go look at our 4th - 7th round picks since 2012. After Marvin Jones and George Iloka in 2012 pretty much all of our late round picks are laughable. We haven't been doing a good job of recognizing talent or coaching guys up that weren't considered polished players coming out of college. Carl Lawson was a good pickup this past year but other than him we haven't been doing anything with our later picks.
