Shebengal Posted February 14, 2024 Report Posted February 14, 2024 https://www.cincinnati.com/story/sports/mlb/reds/2024/02/14/don-gullett-former-cincinnati-reds-and-yankees-pitcher-dies-at-73-big-red-machine-world-series/72602088007/ He was my mom’s favorite Reds pitcher. My very first game was the night that Don Gullett took a Larvell Blanks line drive off of his thumb, breaking it and causing him to miss 2 months of the 1975 season. 😢That wound up being the impetus for Sparky Anderson to become “Captain Hook “. He blamed himself for leaving him in too long.
Shebengal Posted February 15, 2024 Author Report Posted February 15, 2024 I remember him hitting a home run in the 1975 playoffs against Pittsburgh.
claptonrocks Posted February 15, 2024 Report Posted February 15, 2024 He and Gary Nolan were great pitchers together.. Sad day yes. RIP..
