|Montana Bengal| Posted June 29, 2024 Report Posted June 29, 2024 Both candidates have had four years to try to run things. This is the flip side to the Trump thread. This thread isn't about Trump or Republicans.. I'd like this to be a thread where supporters might be able to explain (In detail) why. For others that don't support him why? What has he done that is positive for the country? What has he done that is negative for the country? No sounds bites No generic bs No X is going to do this. Be specific. Quote
T-Dub Posted June 29, 2024 Report Posted June 29, 2024 As a proud Black man why would I ever vote for a party that embraces white supremacy? If the Republicans ever renounce Nazis, the KKK, etc then I will consider voting for their candidates. So long as the white power movement and Christian fundamentalists are welcome at their table they are not an option for me. It has nothing to do with Biden individually. 2 Quote
Shebengal Posted June 30, 2024 Report Posted June 30, 2024 As a woman, I can’t even fathom voting for a man who bragged about being able to sexually assault women because he was famous, was found liable of sexual assault, cheated on all 3 of his wives, and paid $130,000.00 to a porn star he “didn’t have sex with.” Not to mention the 3 Supreme Court justices he put on the court that overturned Roe v. Wade. But having said all of this, I’m not voting for Biden either. I’m in Ohio so even if I did vote for Biden, it wouldn’t matter. I know that’s a shitty attitude and I hate that there aren’t better choices. Voting down ticket is going to be really important this year, especially in Ohio where we have a pivotal senatorial race that could determine who controls the Senate. If the Democrats can keep the Senate and retake the House, maybe they can blunt any damage the Cheeto may try to inflict if he is reelected. 1 1 Quote

Not saying this the other issues don't come into play for me, but "Not to mention the 3 Supreme Court justices he put on the court that overturned Roe v. Wade." And the long lasting implications of this are absolutely abhorrent. I will vote for Biden. Montana has gone from a somewhat purplish tint to very red in the last few year. Quite a bit of big money coming into the state and for some reason a good portion of the population is voting against their own self interest. Public lands aren't going to be public lands much longer if things keep going the way they currently are. 1 Quote
Jamie_B Posted June 30, 2024 Report Posted June 30, 2024 VA is pretty purple, my vote will matter. I'll be voting for Biden, not only because Trump should never hold public office again, not even a school board, but because to my surprise there has been some things I've liked (and yes some things I don't). I posted this in a different thread. What are the things I like that Biden has done? Chips Act Established the first ever gun violence prevention office..... allowing us to even study it The Federal Reserve will have new rules on preventing "redlining" in home ownership Crackdown on Junk Fees and Overdraft charges Forcing China to open their books for audit Bipartisan bill to make it harder for Trump or any other President to strong arm states or election officials to overturn the results of an election Made forming a Union much easier And my biggest thing I like is him putting Lina Kahan in charge of the FTC who is going after these businesses on anti-trust cases. That is Teddy Rosevelt type stuff and I love it. What do I hate? His handling of the Isreal/Palestine conflict. 1 Quote
Jamie_B Posted June 30, 2024 Report Posted June 30, 2024 In addition to that Project 2025 must be defeated it would completely undermine our system of governing and make government officials who work and have worked in government when both parties have been in power, beholden to the President and fireable by the President. This would turn their offices from non-partisan to political, which would make having experts who might disagree with the President not able to tell the pubic the truth. Imagine if during the Pandemic Trump was able to fire Fauchi because Fauchi told the truth about the efficacy of certain drugs or treatments. Because that is their goal, to be able to fire anyone who disagrees with them. And that is straight-up authoritarian. 1 2 Quote
