not to derail and make a Stone post out of this.. but looking at his game logs, looks like the last 5-6 weeks is when Lou stopped his mad scientist routine and plaers started commenting on things being semplified.. Stone had 4 games in the first 12 weeks where he was a pass coverage grade over 60.0, and he has 4 in the last 5 weeks as well. as for missed tackles, he had 19 missed tackles in the first 12 weeks, and 2 in the last 5. Battle had 8 coverage grades over 60, 3 in the last 4 weeks. his first 3 of those were games he had less than 10 pass snaps in early on.. so take that for what its worth. Dax in coverage played 4 games (7 pass snaps in a 5th). and had coverage grades of: 77, 69, 42(washington, 3/3 targets gave up a TD), and 79.. so dax was very good in coverage, with the smal lsample size. and the defense in those last 5 games, averaged giving up 18.8ppg, which would be third in the nfl.. some weak opponents but still. its not unreasonable to feel if healthy, the dfeense without any further additions, is probably in the 18th-22nd range of scoring defenses. thoughts?

agreed, i think a scenario of drafting watts, seeing him play until july/august, and a lineman or someone we can add thats cut late comes out on the market and we cut stone to sign that person or something.
-
Two mocks
if he is there we find out what Al Golden thinks of him for sure.. if he passes its a clear sign.. if hes there seems like a solid chance with the tie to the team and team depth and future needs. makes for a crowded room though, Battle needs to start and Stone is paid well, a high pick needs to play.. is there. a scenario where all 3 can be on the field at once?

Two mocks
i dig both, second one a little LB heavy earlier.. anything in the 5th+ rounds doesnt matter so i dont care there, i dig the first 3-4 rounds.. certainly a checklist of "needs" even if just for depth.

Bengals merchandise/sales/collectibles/swag
i wish, Decent chance my job comes to an end this year, at which point my frugality will peak and all this shit will be for sale.. second kid about to hit college this fall as well.. brutal. lol, id rather set the collection on fire.. i did bid on one a few years ago, cause it was at like $60.. i knew i could flip it easily. it went for $250-ish or something.. game worn,. one of the cheapest ever.

Bengals merchandise/sales/collectibles/swag

Trey'd Hendrickson? I don't think so.
you seem to forget the player signed these deals also, Trey signed the extension he now doesnt like.. he didnt have to.. doing so handed all leverage and freedom to the team. this isnt like Chase or Tee, who were locked in against their wishes so to speak. Trey actively signed the deal he currently doesnt want. his options are: 1. sign the deal the team offered 2. sit out and lose money, age. and now he went public to try to pressure the team which has never worked in the history of the world. this is what happens when you have a baseball agent they had nothing but no name low end football clients. the agency consist of a baseball guy, a supply chain lead from pepsi cola as VP, then the recuiter and a lawyer.. trey is the prize bull at NSA.. they seem to continue to advise him poorly. 1. had him bet against himself, had 14 sacks in 2021 and 8 in 2023.. so he bed against himseld and took a 1 year extensions at 21mil. 2. his agent ignored the entire history of the world where going on pat macafee show talking shit about th team was gonna grease the wheels. 3. you were granted permission to seek a trade, not a single offer with even a 2nd rounder pick offered. no one wants to pay and give up draft capital.. sign the deal or play out the deal you have..you did it to yourself. he came out of NO having had a single good season, 1 seasons over 4.5 sacks. and got 15-16mil a year.. then stacks another good year then an 8 sack year and thinks he is only worth a 1 year 21 mil extension... and since he bet against himself, he now has no power and ZERO leverage. sitting out is a joke. he can sit out 6 weeks, if he sits more he loses the stats and comes across as a pain in the ass. and will be turn 32 the following season. he thinks he is gonna get MORE money then? or more ears then? no chance. and thats even IF he gets 17 sacks again. so he can sign his 3 year 28 per deal, with 50-ish guaranteed right now and nearly double his career earnings.. or sit out 6 games, lose 7-8 million in pay this season.. meaning he needs to get 31+ when he hits the market, going into a season he turns 32, hoping his stats are still sky high, and get a deal to make up for it? he would be better off just playing the 1 year 21 deal then hitting free agency... but once again,. he doesnt want to bet on himself.. seems like a pattern. he handed the leverage to the team. sucker move.

Hamilton County blames Bengals for delayed stadium deal
i still dont know why you think that law means anything to anyone? have you never seen the power of the nfl? even if they faced some sort of penalty, it would be pocket lint to the league/team. The league would LOVE the tem to move to a better market. literally. PRIME exacmple RIGHT NOW.. is the sunday ticket nfl price gauging lawsuit, a jury trial awarded 4.7 BILLION after full trial and decision.. supreme court judge threw it out like it was stale cheerios. no one cares.. money is power, money wins.. some bullshit ass ohio butthurt law means absolutely NOTHING. lucky for everyone they have no intention of leaving.. but they should have gone to baltimore when they had the chance. and we all know the city will cave and give whats needed.... but certainly some silly law passed for political grandstanding for a politician to appease butthurt fans when a team left isnt stoping the nfl from doing anything ever.

Hamilton County blames Bengals for delayed stadium deal
none of this makes any sense. what a deal, "hey if you stay here 25 years you can have this 30 year old stadium that needs hundreds of millions of upkeep and even more improvement to even pretend to be a modern stadium, and dont worry, the neighboring city and businesses will continue to reap the rewards of having a multi billion dollar business and team downtown for FREEE!!!!11 they could just move to a real city. maybe the city should focus on not harassing the players resulting in dozens of millions of lawsuit dollars being paid out over the years for said actions, instead of splitting hairs over the only worthwhile pro sports team in the state (cavs are good but i stand by it). or is there a line of multi billion dollar businesses trying to move into cincinnati? or would you like to compare best team friendly stadium deals and those teams records.. the team is already behind the 8 ball being in southern ohio. definitely the path to attracting and keeping players would be continuing to have one of the worst stadiums.. why use logic, reason, and facts when you already had a villain picked out ahead of time, eh?

the nfl could pay such damages, if they didnt just pay their way out of it legally. at a supreme court fight level.. you think some chump law made in ohio a billion years ago is going to beat out the NFL? how often has the NFL lost at that level? hell they just had a 4.7billion dollar verdict overturned by a judge in the sunday ticket lawsuit, lol.. 4.7 BILLION.. which is less than 25% of their annual revenue by the way.. the state loses that battle 100 times out of 100.... the rules do not apply to the billionaires.. neither do the laws. with the state of ohio governor publicly stating just a few days ago that it cannot afford the browns stadium money that was approved it cannot afford the bengals money theyll ask for either.. but it will then turn and argue, and win, that they could have bought the team? and win? im sorry, thats not going to happen. exactly.

The Open For Business Draft Thread 2025 Edition
very rare for those to exist.. college doenst use them anymore.. so they have to come from some random mormon conference from asouthern state or something..very tough to come by.. usually make good special teamers, but als limit the play options on offense.. if that guy is in.. any slow LB can cover them if needed, or even an edge/de can.. so maybe it limits play versatility too much these days? fat boi jeremi johnson in his best play ever there in th epic. yeah its easy as fans to say "just fill that spot, duh, idiots" whats the list of NFL Guards who check ALL of these boxes: 1. good. 2. available. 3. def want to come play in cincinnati (as well as his family wants to come to ohio vs another option they have, if they are good they have MANY options) 4. in price range we can spend on that position 5. in reference to #1, are clearly better than everyone on the roster. 6. isnt waiting until post draft when teams are up against the wall and maybe have to pay more, lots of guys actively wait until someone is in a pinch) suddenly not the easy obvious task we all make it out to be.

Hamilton County blames Bengals for delayed stadium deal
turns the whole endzone into a club level, taking the cheaperst seats in the area turning them into more of the most expensive, ads luxury for the cold weather haters, scoreboard looks to be double in size, likely forming it to a 70k seating statdium from whatever they say it is now.. so ads revenue+luxury+technology.

CatfishTradamus
we do not know that the bengals have not already given notice of some sort of possible intent to leave. also money makes all rules go away, and the nfl would love to not have a team in cincinnati. AND the nfl is more powerful than the state of ohio is... so not much to worry about with that rule. citizen fodder.

Hamilton County blames Bengals for delayed stadium deal
if they could replace all stairs with escalators... thatd be great..
-
Hamilton County blames Bengals for delayed stadium deal
well it would be a pretty startling series of events if the city blamed themselves... this like saying Trey Hendrickson blames the bengals for a deal not being done... sure... thats the only option..

The Open For Business Draft Thread 2025 Edition
BPA always applies within reason.. if the BPA is QB we arent going to draft them... but also RB make up a decent amount of teams guys (maybe more WR but some) also no Ohio state players count against the 30 top visit limit.. as they are considered local and not top 30 visits. i only saw one, RB, and it was Judkins on the official visit list form earlier today.

Improved - Neutral - Worse - Offseason Phase 1 Roster changes
Slaton should be a help, with a root of several games problems being stopping the run to get the ball back, his addition and the development of th etwo young DT's should be really good improvement.
-
Improved - Neutral - Worse - Offseason Phase 1 Roster changes
i agree, especially in that the repalcements seem to be improvements based on their recent performances. Maybe not big enough improvements to but the category i mentioned up... but no reason to expect downgrades for sure.

makes sense... GM gets no credit for making the right decisions, and all blame for anything that doesnt go great. perfect. you wanna act like picking burrow was a clear cut easy call, like there wasnt "tank for tua" media uproar, like a huge number of people didnt think they should not risk a QB and take Chase Young? not to mention the Justin Herbert crowd as well, there were seemingly 4 legit #1 pick candidates all worthy according to some. and 2 of the 4 have been trash and 1 has been sold, and 1, Joe, has been phenomenal. no credit to anyone... I dont know what you want... there are no teams with a GM who makes no decisions that dont turn out. there are no teams who just sign and keep every player thats good or the fans like there are no teams who nail all of their picks or even close there are no teams with just 5 amazing linemen the bengals draft success rate is on par with everyone elses. about 1/3 of the guys pan out over time. the eagles have been SMASHING the draft lately, they also draft jalen raeger in the first round, and have 3rd round pick that year out of the league, the year prior they drafted a first round Tackle who in 5 years has started 19 games and is on another team. the same shit you and others CRUCIFY the bengals front office for. and then barrel roll into the nonsense about duke tobin this, family that, nepotism this, blah blah blah.. you act like they hatch a Brown family member and make them an executive. Katie went to Dartmouth, played college sports, then went to law school, then worked at a law firm in cincinnati, then came to the team. Troy went to Duke and got his degree in economics, and also played college sports. Mike brown went to dartmouth and then harvard law school, interned with Steinbrenner and the yankees, played QB in college. you have teams hiring sportscasters and analysts as GMs, you have dunce son like mark davis who history is worked on the pro shops image, went to cal state, no degree listed. then you ahve the broncos family that enherited, fought to the death and sold to walmart money. the brown family kept the team in cincinnati for no other reason they they love cincinnati, cincinnati should NOT have an NFL team. the bengals should be in baltimore or LA o rvegas or nashville, and they should be a lot richer. the same free agnets, draft picks, lost free agents....happens to every single team. happens at about the same rate to every single team. look man, youre a fan of a tiny sports market nfl team, a city with virtually no marketing opportunities, no entertainment, little to no luxury, one chefs chains good place to eat. you arent going to gain a bunch if hardly any, top free agents, they have better options for themselves and their families, you just signed a 25 year old WR to huge money.. and he found a way to complain about the food in cincinnati. literally at a press conference, about getting 160million dollars, being the richest WR in history, everything he ever asked for, and unprompted, no one brought it up, no one said shit about anything related.. and he brought up there is no where to eat except jeff rubys, in that moment in his life.... he thought of that?? but im crazy for bringing up no one wants to be there.

Improved - Neutral - Worse - Offseason Phase 1 Roster changes
yeah thats pretty silly IMO. the firing of GM's is 80% a scapegoat activity across the league, unless youre the giants GM and get a televised scenario of losing the best player who goes and wins a superbowl, his days are likely shortly numbered. Duke is also the GM who got Joe, Chase, Tee, got the bengals to a superbowl since color tv was invented, and another AFCC, which if you asked this fanbase if he did that if he could have a 20 year contract, 100% of the fanbase would say yes. Also the bengals arent ones to fire someone for the blame game, so Lou was fired because he refused to use the players they gave his as intended, its been said, and his system caused slow reactions and benching of young players, the players said as much (hilton, stone, CTB and someone else all commented similarly), so that take is 100% just because it what you want to believe. nothing about the bengals history of behaviors (marvin, bob, etc), players comments, media close to the team's comments, support that theory what so ever.

interesting, how does that make them better? he was under contract last year.. and i kinda doubt he gets more than 17.5 sacks..
