Tracking Joe's four
Right, they know it doesn't matter if they do a good job or not... Everyone below them knows it, too. They can print all the t-shirts they want but a team's culture comes from the top.

Keeping Our Enemies Close: 2025
See why these teams all have their own personal hospital's worth of medical staff. Name any other business or organization that does more than the NFL to normalize this sort of behavior.

Dude... it's Troy Blackburn. He is in a position to which he's publicly proven himself completely unqualified simply because he's a son in law. We really need to debate this?

WR Offseason 2025
If someone's willing to pay Higgins WR1 money to play 10 games a year I'm not sure the Bengals should try to match them. This however assumes they are going to invest that money in other impact players instead of carrying contracts like Hubbard or Rankins just because it requires less effort and makes them feel nice. A competent FO would've traded him last year if they didn't intend to keep him. Instead they take a flyer on some headcase in the 3rd round & are now caught out, stuck with using a 2nd franchise tag with no apparent replacement in the wings. Good thing job performance has nothing to do with one's employment with this team.

Muskrat already doxxed one of their daughters. The intent's pretty clear, leak the info & wait for some J6'er type to do the dirty work. Nothing says "fixing corruption" like encouraging your cult followers to murder someone's kid!

So we're to believe a new Federal organization named after this old internet meme and run by this guy with the help of these guys is going to.. <checking notes twice> Fight.. corruption? and people honestly believe that? Child, please. No one's that gullible but by choice. and I forgot to mention, with no oversight or vetting of anyone involved Basically the Muskrat can't legally run for President (yet) so he went out and bought himself one boy I can't wait until they fix all that corruption! They'll run it down in their new $400M fleet of Cybertrucks!

Trump practically wrote the book on money laundering WTF.. No one legit bankrupts a casino.. Laid this all out before with the Roy Cohn connection but I see that was a waste of time.. As is this, really. A fake pediatric cancer charity is pretty damned low even for a career con artist, though. I assume that never really happened either in the Land of Make-believe. It's just nonstop winning over there. Cuts like to the tax rate for the top 5%, for example. Good luck with all that!

"Changes" like dismantling 100 years of civil rights legislation in a month, or dissolving every regulatory agency. No rules for your workplace, your food, the banks, no schools, definitely no healthcare, fuck seniors, veterans, national parks or the environment in general. Fuck Europe & NATO, too - let Russia determine our foreign policy. Send secret police around to harass anyone with skin darker than mayonnaise without warrants or anything of the sort because fuck the Constitution, too. How is any of this shit "Making America Great"? Sure looks & sounds like flying it into the ocean in service to some kind of dipshit Emperor to me. But hey, a handful of ludicrously rich people are making even more billions and now no one can stop them from doing whatever they want, so I guess that's what really matters? So long as I get to see people terrorized as a scapegoat for me being a total fucking loser. Hurrdurr the evil libs! Tread harder, Daddy Trump!

Joe Burrow keeps pressuring the Bengals to pay their best players
This would be so much worse. We didn't know back then they were charging for Gatorade and making the team share last season's jockstraps. Exact contract numbers & cap space were a mystery to most people. Like, imagine how bad it was, and then how much worse it'd gone if you knew about all this stuff back then as it was happening. I think we can rule out any eminent domain scenario, but they're standing at the corner of "Win a couple rings" and "Cardinals of the AFC". It's more interesting than the usual off-season, at least.

Current State of things
I think so but it's much easier to let Daddy Trump do the thinking for him & blame The Libs etc for all his problems. Doesn't seem to be much substance there beyond a seething hatred for anyone not goose-stepping along with him. Every attempt I've seen to discuss facts results in name-calling and a retreat into Fantasyland where Dear Leader is the only source of truth. You're not going to change someone's opinions through logic when it wasn't logic that got them there in the first place. White supremacy is a dead end & they're in their feelings about it. Nothing to be done for it. All these fascists bound to lose. That's why this bigass tantrum trying to tear everything down. "These people are better educated than me and I feel threatened, fire all of them!" You're trying to reason with someone that thinks Donald Trump is going to fight corruption. Like let's put a rabid coyote in the henhouse to protect the eggs. Save your energy, that's my advice.

Joe Burrow keeps pressuring the Bengals to pay their best players
After all the negativity leading up to the draft that he chose to ignore? The "Lost Decade" of the 90's would be nothing compared to fucking things up with Joe, they'd be in absolute free-fall. I'd question whether ownership could even survive that long enough to win people back. They'd be pariahs.

Right, they have to budget possible injury settlements for the 2027 draft class & can't afford to fix the leaks in the stadium concourse. Hamilton County needs to deed them more parking lots.

We really need the light to come on for 1-2 of them & I don't rule that out. Problem there being we won't know one way or the other until around this time next year. We need defense now, I'm not ready to concede some sort of "rebuilding" year. If we wanted to wait we could've kept Anarumo, I expect he'll have the Colts D playing well in a year or two himself. We've got one (1) proven impact player on our defense and his price keeps going up along with our starting WR's, TE, LB's, the list goes on... Keep coming back to this, but they've drafted somewhat poorly, so now they have to overpay for FA's in order to compete with the teams that have been better at it. That likely played into Lou being fired as well. I'm sure those teams are carrying a contract or two they feel is overly generous, but that player fills a need or has stepped up for them in big moments & just might have something left in the tank. Sample & Hubbard would be good examples of our own that are on that bubble. Good teams are constantly turning over the roster at this level, they aren't trying to draft a starting defense for the upcoming season. Exactly, I'll believe they can't afford X-Y-Z player when that money is spent. Joe's called them out enough, we all know they can manage things several different ways and retain whoever they want with money left over. On top of the franchise QB holding their feet to the fire they've got their financials all over the internet now. Their days of being able to drink champagne from the NFL tit & not be bothered are over. Ain't none of them 'bout to starve either way - what's the worst case? They have to sell a few points in the team to float things for a while? Maybe the family reunion is in Gatlinburg instead of the Greek Isles next year. They'll be fine. If ever there was a time to go all in, this would be it. Frankly I'm not convinced they've got the stones for it.

Pratt wants out.
Top teams draft well so they don't have to do that. Failing that, the options are free agents or do without. WTF do I care if the Brown Family Trust has to overpay for a 2-down NT? They can afford it.
-
Pratt wants out.
I'm looking for a quicker turn-around but you're probably right. Taking Dax Hill & Murpy back to back was not great. I like Jenkins & Jackson in rotation with a couple others, at least one of them a vet. Wouldn't waste any more time on Rankins, give that contract to a DE, they can get another 2-down DT for less. At least one LB that's more of a thumper than a cover guy, someone to make plays at the LoS & between the hashes that will take on blockers inside. A physical DB with center-fielder range, like what Stone was advertised as somehow but for real. That's.. 5? On defense. Are we really bringing back Joe Bachie? Volson too?

That all sounds great but "in a year or two" Burrow will be 30. We don't have time for this defensive draft rebuild stuff. Yeah it sucks to overpay for second rate free agents but that's what happens when they don't draft well. Maybe they should look at who is doing that drafting and how they go about it, but in the meantime there's a HoF talent going to waste at QB. They're probably not drafting another of those any time soon, nor are they likely to draft 4-5 defensive starters. One would be a good start. They need to get smart about gaming the salary cap and start cutting some checks or we're going nowhere. If that means a couple of lean rebuild seasons 5 years down the road, so be it. Frankly I'm not convinced ownership wants anything more than generational leisure-class income & have grown comfortable with a formula for "competitive" almost-champions that ensures they get to keep it.
