  1. This is not Joe Burrows fault. You can play and win with this Joe Burrow. The coaches on D and O are scheming AWFUL. If we have the best roster in the league, the best WRs in the league than you have to be able to scheme WRs open quickly. You have to be able to do more. Either you believe Joe Burrow can do it, although limited, and scheme appropriately. OR You don't believe he can do it and you play the backup. You can't believe he can do it and roll out this scheme. If we truly had the best WRs in the league we could still compete. This is on Zac Taylor and Brian Callahan (And Lou Anarumo) for terrible scheming This is on Frank Pollack for being terrible overall This is on Duke Tobin for not getting actual playmakers on the roster. Not paying a little more for Samaje Perrine. Not drafting a WR who can catch a 4 yard slant and go nuts. Every play is slow developing and long. Our WRs aren't open. It's a screen a slant or a deep pass. It's like we have those 4 plays in the original Madden. You can win with an unhealthy Joe Burrow. If you can't win with Jake Browning and the BEST WR unit in the NFL then they are not the best WR unit in the NFL literally go sign a Running QB who can get first downs. Go see how fast Colin Kaepernick is.
  2. We have the best WR group in the NFL right? Arguably the best overall roster? An improved offensive line? Jake Browning beat out Brandon Allen and Trevor Simien. If we can't win a game or two without Joe Burrow than much of that isn't actually true and/or our coaching staff is very bad.
  3. This is good news. The offense looked bad because they couldn't run the entire offense. This is bad news. They weren't smart enough or confident enough to let/force him (to) sit.
  4. Dolphins passing game coordinator Darrel Bevell was an option for our OC position before Callahan. He went to the Lions instead. Would be interesting as an option as OC here if we let him call plays.
  5. There was a stat out on the twitterverse that said last year our wide receivers were the least open. I wish i cold find it. Its what I see. No one is open.
  6. I dont think it has anything to do with training camp. Burrow knows the plays. They are bad plays.
  7. The worst part isn't the injury to Burrow. It's our offensive line doesn't look good...our offense looks vanilla and boring with lots of weapons Our defensive game plan was what today? Let them not throw deep bombs? I think we may be over rating our systems on both offense and defense and that will last until those guys are gone.

  9. These are two parts of your body that happen to be close to eachother but arn't really connected.
  10. It often looked like Higgins ran the wrong route.
  11. I agree with this. He wasn't ready I dont think and wasn't ready for slippery conditions with an unhealthy calf muscle. Its one of those injuries that you feel like you should be ready so you go out too early. I play old man beer league volleyball. Hurt my hand. Sat out for a month and came back too soon and it hurt every time I set. I often played one handed because I really wanted to play. Modified my play to avoid aggressive hand contact. Fine now. Joe Burrow just made 265 million dollars to play quarterback and was far more of a warrior than I will ever be. He was playing, and maybe lying about how badly it was hurting because it "shouldn't have hurt so badly at this point"
  12. I watched a different game. He looked terrible and looked terrible all last year. I think it's very likely he is bad and they paid him all that money and that's funny to me.
  13. Have to remember they use this game as a preseason game, they hope to win and don't care if they lose. Its a proven model and works really well. If you think Joe Burrow will play this badly throughout the year I think you are wrong. It rained. Browns D is good We found out Watson isn't good. He looked terrible again. I have no doubt we are good. I don't know how good.
  14. Yeah, he shuld be easily tradeable if you just consider 2 offseasons ago.
  15. Keep him this year. Franchise and trade him next offseason. Use the draft pick on a WR Use the money on Jonah and Reader The highest paid QB in NFL history shouldn't need 2 top 10 WRs.
  16. Go to twitter and only follow football peeps or just make lists of the bengals football peeps and follow those lists. Its great.
  17. 40. GARRETT NELSON | Nebraska 6032 | 248 lbs. | 4SR Scottsbluff, Neb. (Scottsbluff) 3/1/2000 (age 23.16) #44 BACKGROUND: Garrett Nelson, who is the youngest of three boys, was born and raised in Gering in the Nebraska panhandle (25 miles from the Wyoming border). He started playing football at the YMCA youth league and played several other sports throughout his childhood, including wrestling. In eighth grade, Nelson switched school districts and attended Scottsbluff Senior High School. A three-year varsity letterman, he became a starter as a sophomore and accounted for 67 tackles, 8.0 tackles for loss and 5.0 sacks. As a junior, Nelson earned All-State honors with 44 tackles, 11.0 tackles for loss and 9.0 sacks while adding 133 rushing yards. He led Scottsbluff to a 12-1 record as a senior with the team’s only loss coming in the 2018 state championship game. Nelson earned All-State honors as a senior with 39 tackles and 4.0 sacks. He also lettered in wrestling and won the Class B heavyweight title as a junior and was a state qualifier at 220 pounds in 2017. A three-star recruit, Nelson was the No. 50 weakside defensive end in the 2019 recruiting class and the No. 3 recruit in Nebraska. In the summer after his sophomore season, he received his first scholarship offer, from Nebraska, which was his dream school and the alma mater of his parents. A week later, Nelson became the first commit in the Cornhuskers’ 2019 class and shut down his recruitment. His father (Chris) was a two-time All-American wrestler at Nebraska (1987-92) and finished his career with 101-37-3 record, setting school records for dual victories in a season (21 in 1989-90). Garrett’s mother (Holli) is the daughter of longtime high school football coach Ken Parish, who won the 1969 state title at Cozad (Neb.) High School. Nelson graduated with his finance degree (May 2022). He accepted his invitation to the 2023 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl. WEAKNESSES: Below-average arm length and struggles to stack and shed the point … doesn’t explode out of his stance and lacks the speed to consistently threaten the corner (4.91 40-yard dash backs up the tape) … inconsistent body bend to carve tight edges … too segmented in his rush attack, delaying his counter measures … allows blockers to cross, reach and seal him in the run game … lacks the recovery quickness to close ground in pursuit of the football … lacks ideal range and joint flexibility to drop and cover large spaces as a linebacker … owns a trim, muscular frame but only average mass, especially in his lower half. SUMMARY: A three-year starter at Nebraska, Nelson played on the edge in the Cornhuskers’ four-man base front, lining up in either a two- or three-point stance. He was one of the few dependable players on the Huskers’ “Blackshirts” defense the last few seasons, leading the team in both tackles for loss and sacks his junior and senior seasons. Nelson is an average-twitch player who struggles to gain enough ground with his first step or react to elusive runners in space. Although his shortcomings are apparent, he maximizes his talent with his movement efficiency and GPS for the football. Overall, Nelson’s limitations regrettably come in critical areas (speed and length) for playing the position, but he is a locked-in competitor with short-area quickness and football character that will endear himself to NFL coaches. He draws similarities to Kenny Willekes as a potential rotational end or SAM linebacker. GRADE: Priority Free Agent
