  1. It's not that simple. Who could tell from the outset of Taylor's Bengals? They don't emphasize the run at all. They bail on the run after a series or two if it doesn't produce. You have to stick with it. Once the other team knows you won't run it gets ugly, and that is what we have seen.
  2. Still think the line will look a lot better if some form of a running game existed, and I don't think its all on the OL that it doesn't.
  3. Yeah. It was smart to trade down before the Bengals made a terrible pick. (It was Carman)
  4. Then the OC and Taylor need to have a talk with the QB. The balance of run/pass with the Bengals is an issue. As stated before, when the Bengals run plays under center they have been much more effective.
  5. There is about zero chance any coaching staff uses this information to evaluate their own players. If they do they should be fired. It's impossible for the people at PFF to know exactly what every player was supposed to do on every play. Coaches know that. I'm not sure how much individual video study football players do, but in hockey it's quite a bit. The only reason a team would look at something like this would be for free agents, draft prospects, or sadly, arbitration hearings. Honestly, using an algorithm to grade players is the lazy way out and frankly, crappy. For a world of fans hooked on fantasy and other forms of gambling it's an irresistible product. Really smart move by Collinsworth.
  6. Your first sentence is bullshit unless they GIVE it to all those teams, and in that case it's worth what they pay for it. I know of no other serious scouting service in any other sport that is marketed to fans and cheap enough for them to pay for it. It's a great business idea, but I seriously doubt many teams put much stock in it. Coaches evaluate their own players, they don't pay Collinsworth to hire some kids to do it for them.
  7. Ha! Sign a serial abuser, he gets hurt and you shuffle in 4 different QBs and then blame the OC. This is a perfect example of "holding people accountable." It is often indistinguishable from blaming someone for mistakes not of their doing.
  8. Who does this? Teams get players that fit their scheme. That's not on Taylor. Abandoning the run all the time is on Taylor.
  9. Moving to a team that abandons the run at the first sign of trouble and leaves offensive linemen to deal with pass rushers that can lay their ears back and go full on every play will hurt your PFF score.
  10. I"m not wild about Pollack, but Taylor does him few favors when he abandons the run at the first sign of trouble. The Bengals were at their best this season when the QB took snaps under center and brought the running game and play action back into play. In the last Squealers game Taylor flat out said they couldn't run against the Squealers. I think the Squealers were ranked like #21 against the run at the time? That's loser talk. Not sure what they are going to do, but they do need more strength up front. Being dead last in rushing is bad.
  11. Agree 100%. If Edwards-Helaire gets cut it ain't because of money. He's on a rookie deal and has either not performed or been injured. This "get all of Burrow's old teammates" stuff is for the birds, IMO.
  12. Please, no. If he gets cut it's because he sucks. Tired of bringing in all the guys that played with Burrow at LSU. If this guy were any good he wouldn't be available. See: Irv Smith
  13. Brown being interviewed by Raiders. Callahan by Panthers.
  14. Tepper continues to give a clinic on how to do everything wrong. Get your GM first, bozo, then work with him to find a HC. I know it's hard to get these jobs, but if Callahan is smart he'll pass on this one.
  15. Maybe Mixon was supposed to release as a receiver in the flat, but saw someone getting beat and tried to keep the QB upright?
  16. Got his two touchdowns too. $100K. I have changed my opinion of Mixon. He's changed too. His pass blocking was improved. Most of the time he ran like a power back this season. Less of the dancing and trying to go around people, which he is terrible at trying to do. If he'll run like a power back and Brown is worked in as the speed alternative I think they have a good duo. Doesn't mean they shouldn't draft a RB somewhere. I think Williams' days are over in Cincinnati.
  17. From what I've heard Reader's injury could involve a long recovery. Up to a year. It would be risky to sign him for next season until later summer.
  18. Doesn't help Kelce that everyone knows how bad the KC WRs are. Ball dropping machines.
  19. I see both Brown and Jones as complimentary players, but two complimentary players that can break a game. Both have speed and elusiveness, but neither could probably hold up to playing a majority of offensive snaps. I think Iosivas can be more. Would like to see him in Higgins spot if he does not return.
