  1. I believe we are now at position #16
  2. Yes, FROM THE TOP DOWN. In the front office, this team has never had a sense of urgency and we saw it this off-season with the lacklustre effort to re-sign Chase and Trey (will set aside Tee for the moment). These are 2 of your top 3 players - they should have been locked up. That shows a committment to winning as oppossed to a committment to making money. Now signing both will cost an extra say $5-$8M annually and that is the value of a good guard or a damn good swing tackle. I hate the Stoolers and Cravens but I respect thier front offices. They are committed to winning.
  3. What is the status of Garret from a contract perspective?
  4. 4 round mock with one minor trade down, fix the lines, not that hard to do:
  5. LOL, I was going to say that Keys alresday has the perfect skill set we look for in safeties.
  6. When it comes to analyzing and/or replacing palyers are on our defense - it has to start with a new DC. If we go that route, what systems will he employ and what skill sets is he looking for at each position. Having said that, it is pretty clear we need help at S and DE regardless of system. Maybe new guy can elevate Stone, who knows. I am hopeful the two young DT's will work out and we need the same draft committment to interior OL as well as DE.
  7. Sign Tee, sign Trey, ditch a few bad deals (Rankins, etc), get a new DC, get a new OL coach all high draft picks to DE and IOL. That is the start
  8. I saw that as well and then thought most likley Cartman THOUGHT it was a run play but the call was a pass play.
  9. We are currently at #13 after thois weekends games. I have been looking at a few draft boards and I think one consideration at this spot is OT Will Cambell from LSU - according to Dane Brugler some consider him more of a guard than a tackle but he still finds him on his board 'the best OL in the draft'. Starts at G for several years and is a good backup tackle, maybe a LT once Orlando is done? Another intrigiung OL is Zabel from North Dakota State, plays Tackle now but Brugler sees him as a guard or possibley 'the best center prospect in the draft'. He would be for round 2.
  10. Artrell Hawkins throwback? Did I get that loser's name right?
  11. That guy has a very fast first few steps for a big dude.
  12. For any winning team, EVERY year should be a tight cap fit.
  13. No dead cat bounce for Lou...
  14. Paying your elite players top dollar..what a dumb strategy...
  15. The entire front office is 'average' at thier jobs hence the average results. The problem in a lot of business offices is this - if you know you are average at best then you dont want to push down accountability to people below you becuse you fear they will lose respect for you, etc, because you know that THEY know you are average. If I typed that out right, it becomes a circle jerk of average with no accountability.
  16. As a business guy, I would leverage the guaranteed money for players if I was in the Bengal HO. Use MORE guaranteed money (not less) than others but lower overall contract value. It hits the cap the same but in some circumstances you could get more key players signed to friendlier team contracts. Given the guaranteed revenue stream the NFL provides, there is no reason to fear guaranteed contracts . Only two things can cause problems - injuries and players not performing. But those happen regardless of types of contracts. Focus on your top players and lock them up.
  17. Being transparent would mean saying Rankins has the 'free agent that sucked' virus
  18. If you look at 'core guys' on this team, lets talks about who are top 5 players are: 1,2,3 are for sure JB, Chase and Trey. And if we ignore younger guys on rookie deals the next 2 are really Tee and Orlando Brown? Should we not want to keep the best players come hell or high water regrdless of position. We farked up with Bates , we should not let that happen again. It is a bit of a Paradox that the team puts lower 'values' on certain positions (Guard, Safety, WR2/3, etc) yet with it's middling draft success lets a good drfat pick go to Free agency becuse of the so called lower value position. When you hit on a draft pick, sign the man. When you miss on a pick, cut the man.
  19. It would be a waste of a 1st round pick if we went with a Saeftey becuase once the first contract is done and assumming the player is very good, we would not re-sign him becuse we dont value the position.
  20. I would agree that Mike Brown is old and tired.
  21. And Cartman and Jorden and Girlcheck, etc etc
  22. Thought he might have a “she drains the pipes” line in there
