The story came out 22 hrs. after the incident, but what's a few hrs. amongst friends.
A friend(a bird hunter) said he heard someone blame the old man, saying that he'd "ran" into the shot. Friend said shot travels at something like 1300'/sec. Now that old man can really move.
Bengals need to sign him up=Bengals will be only team in the NFL with a 1 man secondary. His job if he takes it is to cover all passes....Just knock 'em down. Bengals can play a 5-5 or a 6-4(to stop the run,how bout a 10 man front=it'll look like Bengals are trying to block a kick when they aren't kicking) and let the 78 yr old cover everything in the air.
Hope old man isn't a Cowboy fan or we're screwed.

yeah, but honestly... unless there is evidence that cheney was drunk (the only realistic reason that he could get in trouble on this) then this is solely a funny story... but not a front page story 5 days later, solely b/c the MSM didn't hear about it before the ft worth star (or whatever small newspaper) broke the story... its sort of funny hearing the media talk about theirselves right now... "why didn't they tell us scott"... they sound like babies...

i am getting a kick out of all the jokes that are coming from this though... hope the guy is ok though...

Wednesday, February 15, 2006
WASHINGTON - Vice President Dick Cheney accepted full responsibility Wednesday for shooting a fellow hunter, speaking publicly for the first time since the accident Saturday.

"I'm the guy who pulled the trigger that fired the round that hit Harry," Cheney said in a Fox News Channel interview.

"You can talk about all of the other conditions that exist at the time but that's the bottom line and - it was not Harry's fault," he said. "You can't blame anybody else. I'm the guy who pulled the trigger and shot my friend."

The wounded man is Texas attorney Harry Whittington, 78, who was shot Saturday during a quail-hunting outing on a south Texas ranch. Whittington was reported doing well at a Texas hospital Wednesday after doctors confirmed that a pellet had entered his heart and had caused a mild heart attack.

Cheney has been roundly criticized for failing to tell the public about the accident, which remained unreported until the ranch's owner telephoned a local newspaper the next day. He said he thought it made sense to let the owner of the ranch reveal the accident on the newspaper's Web site Sunday morning.

"I thought that was the right call," Cheney said. "I still do."

One pellet from Cheney's shotgun - just under one-tenth of an inch (one-fourth of a centimeter) in diameter - traveled to Whittington's heart and caused a minor heart attack Tuesday, doctors said. Hospital officials said Whittington had a normal heart rhythm again Wednesday afternoon and was sitting up in a chair, eating regular food and planning to do some legal work in his hospital room.

Why? Other than the fact she would get the majority of the female/minority vote.

Unless you just want someone to continue the policies of the current administration?

shes brilliant, seems to be able to make good decisions, and she does continue the current policies... which, believe it or not, i think are the right moves... we are in iraq already, so we obviously finish that... we tread firmly, but not too agressive w/ iran, b/c realistically the europeans are either going to have to watch a neighbor build nukes or they will have to stop them... this is a good way to wake them up (and based on recent events w/ them, it is working)... we continue to push democracy, b/c imo its the best way to tackle poverty and the best way to push peace... i don't want to use force unless it is the last option, and realistically, we shouldn't have to have another iraq or afghanistan, but we have to be willing to do so, if it is called for... but there are many options left w/ iran, so i don't support a war w/ them now, and i pray we don't have to at all... but that will be up to them...

condi rice has done an excellent job so far, as secretary of state...

and i think that she will only continue the foreign policies of bush, which i agree w/... i doubt she will be in lockstep socially, but i don't know b/c she doesn't talk about it much...

I feel that Condi could reverse some of the mistakes that Bush made in some of his policies, in particular, not having a complete strategy for dealing with the chaos of Iraq after we got rid of Sadam (which I felt had to be done).

I also feel that her experience as being our National Security Advisor has prepared her for running our country while we are in the midst of international turmoil. She has that persona of strength around her--the feeling that no matter what the consequences, she will stand for what is best for the global community. I feel that Bush made decisions that would strenghen the U.S. at the expence of the rest of the world, and that may have reflected badly on some of our dealings with the unstable nations of the world.

Plus, even though I consider myself a moderate leaning slightly toward the left, I feel that If a Democrat gets into the Presidency, they will do more harm than good. At this juncture, I feel that if the Republicans wish to maintain some of the gains that they have gotten, keep the stabilization of the Middle East under control, and also make inroads to the center aisle where most constituents hold their philosophies, their best bet is to have Condi run for office.

Hope this clears up the "CONDI in '08" comment somewhat. Any other reasons I think have been covered in BengalRick's post.
