ESPN's 5 Burning Questions...

Recommended Posts
3. Who is the best team in the AFC North?

Allen: It seems strange right now to say this, but the best team in the AFC North is the pissburgh stealers. :boring: Ignore for a moment that they lost in overtime against the Falcons and think about what this offense has done the past two weeks. They've completely dominated two good defenses with two different quarterbacks. The running game looks refreshed and Ben Roethlisberger and Charlie Batch both have an excellent grasp of this offense and are executing their play calls. This team would beat the Bengals and Ravens with Batch or Roethlisberger leading the way. (oh wait the Bengals already beat them dumbass!)

Hoge: It's the stealers in a landslide. :0stfu: They have an excellent blend of offense and defense and are starting to look like the stealers from last year. This team will be hard to beat down the stretch, even if Roethlisberger has to miss time. Backup quarterback Charlie Batch is more than capable of winning games.

Salisbury: Despite losing Sunday to the Falcons, the stealers are back and they have fewer questions surrounding them than any other team in the AFC North. The Ravens have trouble moving the ball on offense and even with a good defense, you have to put points on the board in this division. The Bengals are having offensive line issues that have slowed their explosive offense. Cleveland just isn't ready. That leaves the stealers, who have the right combination of offensive and defensive excellence to contend.
OK, I thought the dick sucking of these fucktards was done but apparently they didn't get the memo that the stealers are 2-4 and haven't really done shit but beat sorry ass Miami and KC not showing up last week. Of course all these guys picked the Panthers to win and oops, that went well didn't it?

That and a 2-4 record will get you real far with your creditability.

I wonder if they have a choice. Maybe these guys need to build them up because the Stoolers play isn't cutting it and they are the superbowl champs. A lot of money is involved and the Stoolers are blowing it.

Hmmm.... maybe. I'd have to see what they do against the Ravens. If they played us again I think they would beat us.... I can see where this person is coming from.

If they played us right now? It's doubtful that they would win. Their D is looking suspect with some injuries involved, and their offense and return units are turnover-prone (a recurring trend that cannot be ignored). Our offensive line stepped it up against Carolina, and we've got injured players back like Chris Perry and Dexter Jackson, plus Chris Henry returning from his suspension.

It's hard to say for week 17, because you never know what things will change. Right now we would have a definite edge.

What I find funny is how quickly these analysts have forgotten about Baltimore-- the team they picked to challenge for the Super Bowl. It's not like Baltimore is sucking now. They are on a bye. But the analysts dismissed them so fast it's hilarious. I think them not talking about us is just a function of them refusing to admit they were wrong. They all said we were pretenders and unanimously picked Carolina to beat us.

YES they did!!

Additionally, from what I saw yesterday during the pre-game show, there was alot of love going to Phillip Rivers and San Diego with their vaunted D; who gave up 30 points to KC.

The one statement I agree with was that New England was the most reliable team in the NFL.
But still, "Any Given Sunday".

So what. Everyone picked us to roll the Stealers and we didn't. We won but it wasn't a blowout like everone was expecting. Everyone picked us to beat the Pats and we didn't. Most picked us to win last week and we lost. Just like we were a sack/fumble of winning last week... we were a pick away from possibly losing this week. It's hard saying. They make their best pick. Sometimes they are right... other times they are wrong. They can't pick the Bengals to win everytime because they aren't going to win everytime.

The Stealers vaunted Defense has allowed more points this season
than the "lowly" Bengals "pathetic" Defense has !

How do the Stealers have Defensive excellence ?

The Stealers have allowed 125 points in 6 games, for an average of
20.8 points a game. The Bengals have allowed 113 points a game
in 6 games, for an average of 18.8 points a game !
The Bengals have the 12th ranked scoring Defense and the Stealers
have the 16th ranked scoring Defense (Browns are 18th) !!!!

Their Offense has been shut out by a team that lost to the Texans (Jags) !
Their Offense has coughed the ball up 14 times (Bengals have 8 turnovers) !
Only Detriot, Arizona, Cleveland and Oakland are worse than the Stealers in that regard !

Stealers, their fans and ESPN "experts" that ride their jocks ! :pointlaff:

I wouldn't be so quick to totally discount what they are saying. Hoge is one of the best analysts in the NFL. He picked pissburgh to win last year and he picked the Bengals to win this year.

I honestly think that they are better than Baltimore. Plus, they are entering an easy stretch of the schedule where I could see them putting together a good run and being right in the thick of things down the stretch.

The real question is whether the Bengals are better. Personally, I think they are IF, and this is somewhat of a big if, IF (1)the line comes together, (2)Carson finds his rhythm and (3) the depleted LB corp is able to play solid.

Who cares how many points they lost by, or how close they are. The truth of the matter is they find ways to lose the games now. I remember a team like that; it lasted longer than a decade. Of course that team was blown out many times, however, many of those games were also very close, and the Bengals found a way to lose. Such as Corey Dillon not making a one yard rush for a TD against the Titans. I remember that god damned game. It was close, but no one said we were the best team in the AFC North for almost winning games.

Fuck that, the stealers record will show how great of a team in the AFC north they are. They'll be close and scrappy, but will find ways to lose. Even the game against us is a good example. They were able to win the game but they found many ways to lose it. That's what would happen to us in our dark days. Anyone remember TJ dropping those punts? Anyone? I know Go does.

They may have an easy game with Oakland but how can Denver (5-1) and New Orleans (5-1) be considered easy?

Btw, ... ...how great would it be to see Oakland kick their butt! :D ...after all this is Oakland's only shot at the Superbowl this year!

Everyone who? Half the ESPN guys picked against us, as did 4 of the 6 guys from CBS.

The Stealers were favored by 2 points, and we won by eight.

Few people were picking us to win, and none were predicting us to roll the Stealers (at least, not that I can find).

Leaky - I am awaiting your response to Mongo. When you get totally owned, you must come back and make an excuse........ like the "everyone" you were referring to were the fans on this Bengal Fan message board.
