i have avoided this topic, b/c i knew it was coming whether we wanted to or not... the first supreme court justice has announced that she is going to step down before the next session starts (which is in october)... she was appointed by reagan as a conservative judge, but has not been that as far as abortion goes... b/c she was the swing vote in abortion, her nomination is going to be very, very hard to get someone in there... much harder than reinquist, b/c he is a conservative and does vote against abortion...

its sad that i have to bring up the abortion issue, b/c reguardless of everything else, that is what the whole proceddings are going to base around...

we thought it was bad before... it just got more divided...

U.S. Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid has already suggested a number of Republicans who would make good SCOTUS Justices.

i have a feeling that senator reid is going to be a little disappointed...

the front runner seems to be attorney general gonzalez... click here... but that would go against the core of the republican party...

Might want to check into that rick. More republicans are unhappy with him than you think. Just like a lot of republican voters are unhappy with him as of late. It's a good thing he can't run again in 2008. He'd lose. Well, depending on the Dem candidate.

I personally want McCain in there. (and you call me a liberal - ) :P

I don`t tow any party lines.
I just vote for who I think is the Best man for the job.

I think Bush has done a better than average job ecspecially
for all of the shit that was shoved onto his plate.
I don`t think he is doing anything just to keep people happy.
He is doing what he thinks is best for this country...go figure...

i can deal w/ mccain... he seems like he has a good head on his shoulders, and anyone that you and i can agree on, has to have something going for him... :)

anyway, i respectfully disagree about your perception of rep's and bush... only one republican senator is distancing himself from bush, and nobody is following...

i could post poll after poll, but neither one of us know the background of the poll, so they are essentially useless... but considering that nobody on here, that would call themselves a conservative, has changed their mind on bush... either they hated him from the start, or they are still onboard, but nobody is jumping ship... the only thing i hate about him, is immigration... but i'm on board w/ most everything else...

(question for anyone) have any conservatives on here, change their mind on bush?

I didnt like him or hate him when he was first elected. Just figured he would be another warm body to fill the seat for 4 years. I dont like a lot of what he does, i dont hate him. I dont know the man well enough to hate him. I like some of his ideas(social security for one), but for the most part I think he is a jackass and was sad to see Colin Powell leave the administration. But i never walked around w/ "vote bush" buttons or anything. I was hoping for McCain in 2000. I'm just typing as i go here and not proofreading, so this might sound like a one armed retard typed this paragraph.
On a side note, nice thread jack. Its not too often we get to talk about Bush and his greatness/suckness onthis board.

I actually liked his immagration plan to have temporary workers.

And I'm more a social conservative than a regualar conservative. So I cant say.

GWB has done a few things that have made me unhappy. Primarily his "actions" regarding illegal immigration, and a lot of his domestic spending. He has spent money like a Democrat on a lot of things.

But, due to his actions in the war on terror, and the simple fact that there has not been a SINGLE successful attack on US soil since 9-11, he was the obvious choice over Kerry. That and Bush is more likely to nominate a strict constructionist to the SC than Kerry.

As for McCain - NO WAY. The guy is half RINO. At least.

i agree about the spending thing, but you know as well as i do... its easy as hell to add money to the budget, but almost impossible to take money away from it... ask arnold and the unions in calli...

The thing is they are going to come in anyway, unless we build a wall (which i'm extremely opposed to after living in West Germany right before the Berlin Wall came down I've seen how bad of a idea that would be) lets at least do something that can get them registered in some way, it would be good for security.

Am I the only one that finds the sign on the Left humorous....

Isn't God the one that created "death" and supposedly would have the power to stop it, also if you believe thta things happen for a reason, isn't he complicit in every death <_<

not to mention the hundreds of times God kills in the Bible

So, how many women have you known, closely and personally who have had an abortion?

I have known 3. Abortion wounded these women deeply. My ex had an abortion long before we met. Twice a year, she struggles with deep depression. One week the time of year she had the abortion, and one week at the babies due date.

Another close relationship once attempted suicide because of her depression related to the abortion. All 3 of those women have had difficulty getting pregnant again since the abortion.

Think DEEPLY before you "choose".

Jason, I see your point. BUT, those women CHOSE to have abortions. Maybe it ended up not being right for them. But they chose. Why should other women not have that right?

I am against abortion. I think it's wrong. Especially if only used as a means of birth control. But there are far too many reasons or situations where women get pregnant. Who am I do decide that they must deliver the baby?

Hell you can add men to that
Men: 0

If a woman wants to have a baby and the guy doesn`t
she can still have the baby and make him pay child support.
If the man wants to have the baby and the woman
doesn`t...she can have an abortion and the guy can`t stop her.

Anyway ....have a good 1 Jamie.

Peace....
