I've seen in various places that Elon / Twitter (X) have become the top spreaders of misinformation.  I'm not sure any of us are that surprised.

 

I'm wondering if anyone has insight into 'our' relationship with Elon and the US Government.  Between Starlink / satellites / Space X / etc.  it seems, to me, that we are overly entagled with his companies.  Isn't this a huge security risk?  Are kids gloves being used with him in some instances because of this?

I haven't really looked into any of this.  I just have this sense of dread and I'm wondering if anyone might informed perspective.

I just read that he's lost about $40B in Xitter value since he took over.  Under his direction, moderation has been entirely one-sided and their algorithms adjusted to center divisive far right, racist & ultranationalist content.  

 

He was also associated with Epstein & Ghislaine Maxwell.

 

Even considering his wealth, $40B is a lot of money to piss away turning a social media platform into an outlet for hate speech for no apparent reason.

 

This leads me to believe he very well may be compromised and being blackmailed.

 

More related to your question, the US is using a related SpaceX service called Starshield.  As I understand it, they are using Starlink satellites but developing their own ground terminals and supporting their own compartmentalized network.  Basically using the satellites only as transponders with the traffic certainly heavily encrypted & likely obfuscated in other ways.  SpaceX was also contracted to launch a similar nodal network exclusive to the NRO so they can cut Starlink out of the loop entirely.

 

They seem to be moving away from Musk & his companies as much as possible, but until they have a reliable & affordable challenger to Falcon 9 they're probably stuck with him to some extent.  Certainly have to wonder at him using USAF launch facilities and the wisdom of letting some megalomaniac completely fried on research chemicals be even tangentially involved in sending rockets over LA and Phoenix.

Yep.

Musk (or possibly neither) was/were likely to pass the security screening that comes with a real cabinet position, so Trump had to create something for him that will guarantee him access.
