Saw Zappa in '84 at the Cincinnati Gardens. Surreal show. It was the Ray White/Ike Willis era on guitar. Acoustics were horrible, but I enjoyed the show. Several years ago I was at an NHL game and the organist started playing "Peaches En Regalia." I was like, WTF? Between periods I went over to the organ player and talked with him. He, of course, was a Zappa fan and said he didn't think anyone ever listened to what he was playing. Funny stuff.

I don't know about that. He seems to stir drama wherever he goes and I don't know if we need that negative energy in the locker room or the WR corps.

Everything pushed back a day this week b/c of playing on Monday so the usual Wednesday on-field/media availability stuff happens today. Should get status on Hendrickson and Wilson. Curious also if Chase has an injury designation from the hip.

I like some of the Mothers stuff & a few other bits but all that free jazz whatever later work is just painful to me.. Like he was trying his hardest to make the most discordant & random shit possible, and succeeding. Writing music that sounds like it was blindly pulled out of a hat one measure at a time is probably some sort of accomplishment but I find it unlistenable. The lore/mythology that went with it is amusing, though. "Let's Make the Water Turn Black" used to be the "everyone GTFO" jukebox selection at a bar I went to...

Zappa was so demanding he always had to have exceptional players to keep up. From Vai to Adrian Belew, and going all the way back to Lowell George. Frank was self taught, so he didn’t sound like anything you had heard before, but was a virtuoso himself. As you can tell I was, and am, a big Zappa fan.

Would like to get Zimmer back here in some capacity. Sad to see him end up on Skid Row as an assistant to Dion.

Missed nothing there. The next time Toney plays through two consecutive games effectively will be the very first time.

How about Terrace Marshall, one of Burrow's WRs at LSU?? A 2021 2nd round pick who hasn't done much at all for Carolina, but they have had huge QB problems.

Never thought of it that way. Pretty strong team when the high draft choices compete for time with high draft pick rookies not getting a lot of playing time with strong veteran players already there. To this point. Meaning Taylor-Britt's playing time will probably improve significantly with Apple showing his true colors. Dax was a draft for the future pick and a luxury that we could do so. Next year he will have a full season of NFL training and adjusting to the team and culture and be ready to rock when Jesse leaves. So I am not disappointed with the draft. I think it shows more what kind of team we have now.

Rethinking, it may very well have been Vets in Columbus where I/we saw lots and lots of groups traveling in from Athens. Birthplace of Joe Burrow but before his time, of course.

Saw him somewhere in Cincinnati... the Taft, maybe? Midsong, the whole band just quit playing. Walked around the stage talking, smoking a cigarette or two, drinking a soda just kind of doing nothing for like 20 minutes. When the crowd became too WTF? restless, Frank walked to the mic, said "Pisses you off, doesn't it?" and the picked up on the note they had left off with.

I didn't know Zimmer was working with Sanders at Jackson State. Someone is going to pay Dion a lot of money to coach a big time program soon. It's amazing what he's done there.

As I. Years back, I saw Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan at a small bar near the OSU campus. It was sort of Flo and Eddie time, but they were playing a lot of Mothers songs—and even a sprinkled in Frank song or two. I had opportunity to hang around with them for several hours after the set. Fascinating people. Both were so dialed in to Zappa’s genius…and gushed about it.

The team becoming relevant again probably helped as well. My guess is Katie and her young posse probably spent some time and put together a case for him to present to the veterans’ committee. It’s really criminal that he won’t get to stand up and accept the award in person.

Browns aren't far from being playoff hopefulls.. Their Oline is outstanding in pass and run.. Bresett seems to implode in 4th qtr.. Their pass defense isn't Good but Their pass rush is explosive. If JB takes what's given to him in the short game he'll burn them deep to break their spirit.. After all....isn't that the art of his game?.. To break his opponents spirit playing against him? And then crushing them.. That's JB's mentality every game.. Assasin mentality ..

The getting by with backups part is very Zimmer. Never seemed to matter who was starting with him at DC.

Weekend Viewing Schedule... Thursday Night Suckfest Rats at Tampa Brady. Can Tom pull one out of Giselle's wazoo for a W? I honestly do not think the Rats are that good. Lemur is pretty one dimensional. Sunday 1:00 Squeels at the Cheese Steaks. Monday Us at Clowns on Hall 🎃ween I think its going to be ugly, lots of Clown cheap shots but losing Nojokefoo ain't gonna help. Winnable if we don't beat ourselves. Air Burrow will have an off night and be held to 400 yards. And its Tee Time Monday night. Stay tuned, wrestling fans...
