This one hits a little close to home with me. I have a dear friend whose daughter was born with Trisomy 18. She only lived a week. There was no question in my friend’s decision to have the baby, knowing this. It was a brave decision on my friend’s part. I don’t know if I could do it, to be honest with you. I also wasn’t aware of the health risks to the mother associated with this. Point is, it shouldn’t be up to the legislature. It shouldn’t be up to the judges. It should be up to the mother and her doctor. No branch of government should have the right to determine a mother’s future ability to have children, especially a branch of government run mostly by men. (And let’s face it, most of them are.)
