they have to sweep.
Naptown, they need this game, no matter how you put it. If they win 2 of 3 they have a very slight chance, but they def need to take the first one and hopefully a sweep to have a solid chance
Ok this is what I should have said

Sweep = pretty good chance

2 of 3 = slight chance but still alive

1 of 3 = almost no chance

0 of 3 = well at least we got the Bengals

Tuesday, September 12 Great American Ball Park | 7:10 PM ET
SD Chris Young, RHP (10-5, 3.71) Padres (74-68) @ CIN Eric Milton, LHP (8-7, 4.95) Reds (71-72)

Scouting Report:
Young puts his 21-game streak without a road loss to the test. He's 9-0 with 12 no-decisions since his last road loss in 2005. Young's high pitch count (105) prevented him from going as deep as he'd hoped in his last start, against the Rockies. He departed after five-plus innings, having allowed three earned runs on six hits while striking out eight and walking three. Young's previous start had been a dominant one at Arizona -- 11 strikeouts, three hits and two runs (one earned) in seven innings.

Milton enjoyed one of his finest outings of the season on Sunday at San Diego, where he allowed just one run on five hits in six innings. Milton struck out two and did not walk a batter in a game the Reds eventually lost 2-1. Milton has allowed three or fewer earned runs in seven of his past nine starts. He went six innings in his only start against San Diego this season, allowing one run (unearned) on five hits to earn a no-decision in a game the Reds went on to lose, 2-1, on Sept. 3.

Wednesday, September 13 Great American Ball Park | 7:10 PM ET
SD Jake Peavy, RHP (8-14, 4.31) Padres (74-68) @ CIN Kyle Lohse, RHP (4-7, 5.35) Reds (71-72)

Scouting Report:
Peavy's run of bad luck continued in a loss to the Giants on Friday night. For the 10th time this season, the Padres were unable to score a run while Peavy was on the mound. Pitching with a bruised toe on his left foot, Peavy went 6 2/3 innings, giving up seven hits and three earned runs. His stuff wasn't top shelf judging by his two strikeouts, well below his norm, but he pitched well enough to keep his team in most games. Peavy has had 11 quality starts this season without a win.

Lohse allowed one earned run over seven strong innings during a 9-1 win over the Pirates on Friday. The right-hander gave up seven hits with a walk and struck out six. Four of his seven starts for Cincinnati have been quality outings. He's given up two earned runs or less in five of his seven starts.

Thursday, September 14 Great American Ball Park | 12:35 PM ET
SD Clay Hensley, RHP (8-11, 3.87) Padres (74-68) @ CIN Aaron Harang, RHP (13-10, 3.83) Reds (71-72)

Scouting Report:
Hensley is coming off a superior performance, shutting out for seven innings in a no-decision on Sept. 6, yielding three hits and five walks while striking out five. The 26-year-old Texan has been consistent and luckless since July 18, going 2-3 in 10 starts despite fashioning a 2.43 ERA across 59 1/3 innings. He has been keeping his sinker down in good locations and using the slider and changeup to keep hitters off-balance.

Harang allowed four earned runs and eight hits in a seven-inning no-decision loss by a 7-4 score to the Pirates on Saturday. The right-hander, who also gave up two homers, is winless over his last three starts and allowed four earned runs in each outing for a 5.40 ERA.

If they lose tonight it drops them 4.5 games back.

If they win tonight, and lose the next 2 games, they`ll be 4.5 games back.

They NEED to win this game to have a chance.
They also NEED the Marlins to lose to the Mets
and the Phillies to lose to the Braves.

Damn the Reds are needy.

Anyway, why aren`t any of these games with the Padres on ESPN ?
And MLB wonders why they`re not not America`s past time anymore...

2 innings left on our postseason hopes...and we better hope to get something in the 8th because the 9th we will face hoffman....

hell maybe griffey will hit a walk off pinch hit hr in the ninth....

by the way our luck from the road trip is coming back, we had two solid hits to lead off the last two innings that their middle infielders either made a nice play on or was hit right to them...
Guess its just not our year...

I turned it on in the 6th inning after seeing that we were winning the game. Watched Franklin and Cormier give up the lead, then watched our offense load the bases with 1 out only to fail to score a single run. Turned the game off after that.
