Anyone live in Vegas?

sois

Recommended Posts

Been here for 10 years (though tossing around the idea of moving to Australia).

Let me know if you need information about where to live, eat, hang out, etc. Feel free to send me a PM too if you feel like it.

Just curious, what brings you out this way? Job? Family? Curiosity? Just said "fuck it, I'm moving to Vegas"? (That's how we ended up here).

I've always wanted to live abroad but am completely inept at learning new languages, so that way I'd only need to learn a new dialect. :P

That, and I'm pretty sure that the US is headed for a full-blown depression and geeks are in high demand down there, particularly in the medical industry...

I'm working on it. ^_^

Funny thing is that all of these weird things keep popping up in regard to Australia. My wife is interviewing for a new job tomorrow with a huge multi-national company who's 2 main offices are in the US (Seattle) and Melbourne.

The weirdest one was our exchange student's mother's best friend has two sons who also spent exchange years abroad. One of them is still in AU as he's going to University there and is banging an Australian chick (wonder which one kept him there...). Her father owns a company, and when our exchange student's friend told him I work in IT and was thinking about moving there said "I'll hire him".

I wonder if someone is trying to tell us something...

It wouldn't happen to be an HR and financial consulting company, would it?

Same here, but the beer is cheaper.

 I forgot!

There is a casino a 5 minute walk from here... you won't have to quit the Vegas lifestyle cold turkey -_-

Except they don't seem to serve free drinks down here. At least not for folks playing the slots. <_<

Meh, I don't gamble and never have. Really the only way you can live here and not get into trouble...

BTW, aren't you getting ready to go into winter there?

Yup. The locals are already calling it winter because it's not in the 80s anymore :D

Was about 70 yesterday and today. It's been mid-upper 60s the last few weeks. Lows to about 50 or so. Really not bad at all. From what I understand, there isn't much if any snowfall in these parts. Seems like it should be an ideal winter.

The wife is noticing through the books she's reading that a big chunk of Australia is a lot like Nevada.

I'm good with that...

Good deal. I want to live in Austria someday.

Just beware, if the US falls into depression, chances are it will be worldwide.

Global revolution! Death to everyone I disagree with! Kill enough innocents and eventually everything works out!

Austria is fanfreakingtastic. If you don't ski, I recommend learning. The slopes there are awesome.

I can barely walk without falling down, never mind putting long skinny shoes into the equation
