Question for Police Officers

Storm

Recommended Posts

I know there is at least one Policeman on here

Is it some regulation that says that the officer must approach the driver of a car?

I was watching the other day and a officer had a car pulled over, the driver looked very suspicious and was crouched down real low in his seat as the officer approached him. I wondered why you wouldn't just have the driver step out of the car and walk back before you leave your vehicle? It just seems that it would be safer. It seems that you are taking a risk of being shot walking up to who knows what.

Unless its changed when I lived in Fla I was pulled over and the officer used the loudspeaker and instucted me to slowly get out of my vehicle and walk back to his car before he got out.

I'm not a cop, but I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night Actually I just got out of the Police Academy in the fall. I would think if he was crouched like that, he would use the loudspeaker, but he could just be reaching for his license/registration/proof of insurance, or a shotgun.... It's about damn near impossible to get off a good shot while in the drivers seat, so he would have to get out of the car, in that case the officer would have the advantage. They taught us how to use their car as an advantage, and suspicious behaviors and stuff.... good times...

Now, you shoulda knew that this was comin...

Fuck tha police
Comin straight from the underground
Young nigga got it bad cuz I'm brown
And not the other color so police think
They have the authority to kill a minority

Fuck that shit, cuz I ain't tha one
For a punk muthafucka with a badge and a gun
To be beatin on, and throwin in jail
We could go toe to toe in the middle of a cell

Fuckin with me cuz I'm a teenager
With a little bit of gold and a pager
Searchin my car, lookin for the product
Thinkin every nigga is sellin narcotics

You'd rather see me in the pen
Then me and Lorenzo rollin in the Benzo
Beat tha police outta shape
And when I'm finished, bring the yellow tape
To tape off the scene of the slaughter
Still can't swallow bread and water

I don't know if they fags or what
Search a nigga down and grabbin his nuts
And on the other hand, without a gun they can't get none
But don't let it be a black and a white one
Cuz they slam ya down to the street top
Black police showin out for the white cop

Ice Cube will swarm
On any muthafucka in a blue uniform
Just cuz I'm from the CPT, punk police are afraid of me
A young nigga on a warpath
And when I'm finished, it's gonna be a bloodbath
Of cops, dyin in LA
Yo Dre, I got somethin to say

FUCK THA POLICE!

Dear Cops....

How much is the ticket for D.W.B. (Driving While Black) and does it depend on the time of Day ?

It seems they could get off a good shot at point blank range when the cop comes to the drivers side window. On the other hand it seems that it would be impossible to shoot a cop if they are told to get out of the vehicle first before the officer gets out of his.

Heres how I would do it. I would use the loadspeaker and tell the driver to get out of the vehicle with his hands in the air then have him lay down face first, then do the same if there are passengers, then I would get out after they are all lying face down. just seems safer

And thats just for a parking ticket ;)

Talking from the fact i have 2 uncles who are cops and my cousin is tom striker (Cheif police of cinci)

More times than not they will ask the driver to put his hands in the air before coming to the car. But the times they dont are for small things taillight out wrong turn, speeding, reckless driving, etc

You would think they could, but if they do what was taught them, they are supposed to stand not directly in front of the door, but more towards the middle of the car, and lean to the window, that gives a less of chance, but still a chance of being shot....... I have actually been told of an instance where an officer goes up for the traffic stop, and goes to the passenger side window instead of the drivers side...... the driver didn't see him coming, and when the officer got to the window, the driver was holding a gun in his hand looking in his side mirror, completely oblivious to the cop.... talk about crapping your pants...

ouch...that sucks, what was he pulled over for? I agree that there are
some "uptight" cops, and they can be pricks......I'm sure when you
deal with mouthy law-breaking punks day in and day out that don't
comply with your orders, struggle, try to run....you get a
little itchy when they go reaching...thats really sad and unfortunate it happened....

my dad is a retired fireman who worked over-the-rhine...I could tell you
countless stories about what police and fireman go thru on an every day
basis...it's terrible, but I can honestly see why some of these cops treat
some people the way they do... there were lots of nights I worried about
my dad coming home and he was just a fireman...I believe the last few
cases here in Cincinnati, where the young black men where killed would still
be alive today if they would have complied with the officer...JMHO.

He wasn't "pulled over" for anything.

He was just on the street and "looked like" a guy the police were looking for, I beleive.

How about Abner Louima?
Abner Louima was a Haitian immigrant who was brutalized by New York City police officers when he was arrested after a brawl outside a Brooklyn nightclub in 1997.

The arresting officers beat Louima in the squad car, and later sexually abused him in a bathroom at the Brooklyn 70th Precinct station house at approximately 4:30 a.m., August 9. Officer Justin Volpe first kicked Louima in the groin, then, while Louima's hands were cuffed behind his back, sodomized him with a toilet plunger, causing severe internal damage to his intestines and bladder that required several operations to repair.

Volpe next moved through the precinct, holding the bloody, feces-stained instrument in his hand and bragged that he had "broke a man down." Given the size of the precinct in question, it would be unlikely for the officers on duty not to have heard the assault or witnessed Volpe's pride in his actions.

Volpe pled guilty to assault and was sentenced to thirty years in prison. Another officer was convicted for pinning Louima down during the assault, and four others were convicted of lying to authorities.

Besides Volpe, the other four officers were Thomas Bruder, Charles Schwarz, Michael Bellomo and Thomas Wiese.

The incident provoked outrage among the Haitian and other minority communities in New York City as well as nationally.

Louima's subsequent civil suit against the city resulted in a settlement of $8.75 million, the largest police brutality settlement in New York City history.

He now lives in Florida.
Yeah.
If you DON'T BREAK THE LAW...
you shouldn't have anything to worry about
Unfortunatley, it's not that simple.

I'm not trying to disrespect the police. I think the majority of them are doing the right thing.

I guess the "If you DON'T BREAK THE LAW...
you shouldn't have anything to worry about" quote got me going though.

I think that is kind of naive. Sorry Beotch, but I think it is.
