I don't know though. Watching left turn, left turn, left turn, left turn, left turn, left turn, left turn, left turn, left turn, left turn, left turn, left turn, left turn, left turn, left turn, left turn, left turn, left turn.....

...can be pretty exciting....especially when Jeff Gordon spews his Pepsi all over a fellow driver in anger at being bumped....now THAT'S quality TV!

In a related matter, Sports Illustrated has recently announced that a winery is coming out with a NASCAR wine. This will answer the long debated question among wine lovers: "which wine goes with chili corn dogs?" And there will soon be 2 kinds of NASCAR wines, red neck, and white trash.

I used to be one of the many who thought NASCAR was the biggest redneck sport on the earth, and I thought this as recently as a few months ago. But once you pay attention to it you realize it is not that at all. Sure you still have some hillbillies, but for every one you have a California pretty boy driver as well. The old sterotype of 43 hillbillies driving in circles is really outdated.

Yea, I'll agree it can be hard to watch if you don't have a favorite or any money riding on it, but it's really the same thing as watching a horse race. One of my friends runs a pool every week where everyone puts their dough in and picks a driver. If you guys could try and get in one of these sometime, I guarantee you'll have a blast rooting for your driver to win.

i think nascar mostly appeals to people who grew up working with cars...or have some kind of connection with racing in their past.

my dad, for example...grew up out in the middle of fucking nothing...so he had helped his father build an engine by time he was 14. Later in life one of his best friends raced dragsters...and my dad helped work on it.

my dad isnt a big time nascar fan or anyhting...doesnt even own a shirt or any type of appearal...but he can watch the races and find them entertaining because he understands everything they are talking about when it comes to all that tire pressure and timming all your shit right and all that shit during the races. how the curves on certain tracks are higher or lower banked so you have to drive on it a certain way to get the most draft off the other guy. shit like that.

therefor i think nascar mostly appeals to the south because...alot more people in the south grow up around it...and we dont. just as alot of kids around here grow up playing golf for example...whereas alot of kids in the south grow up around cars. alot of kids aroudn here know how to play golf. alot of kids in the south know how to race or work on cars.

im not a fan but...i will say the video games are fun every now and then.

Now you're assuming only southerners watch NASCAR. I'll tell you something, there are many upstate New Yorkers that follow NASCAR like a religion.

Am I a big Nascar fan? No... do I understand why alot of guys that love fast cars and have extensive knowledge about mechanics like nascar? yes..
Do I think Nascar is just as boring as watching a 3 hour baseball game where everyone basically stands around until a ball is hit.. no .. baseball to watch is much more boring to me...
to each his own men to each his own.
By the way Jason your comment about white trash liking Nascar kind of surprised me... was it for shock value or are you just ignorant...

Pure humor, lighten up. My stepfather, who is about as far from redneck or white trash as you can immagine (computer "geek" par excelance) is a NASCAR fan. Just humor playing off the stereotype.
