Whats Everyone do for a Living ???

Nope not a saleman. I'm the guy that people yell at when their shit is broke down or it cost too much to repair ;)

I yelled at a guy just like you not too long ago. I've got 2 cars, a 1996 Neon Sport Coupe that I've had since college with who knows how many miles on it (odometer's been broken for three years-don't care) and 1996 Crown Vic LX with 24,000 miles on it that I bought from my Grandpa last year (he sold it to me for 5k-and it only had 12,000 miles on it when I bought it! 8 yrs old!!!)

The Neon is my short trip, back and forth to and from work car.

The cop car is the family cruiser and grocery getter.

The Neon has developed a series of problems, some minor, some not over the years.

I took the Neon in to get a tuneup (I have a leaky headgasket. I know this. It's an external leak rather than internal, and it's relatively slow so I just add oil every couple of weeks-no biggie except every 6 months enough oil has leaked that it fouls the plugs and causes the service engine light to come on. A tuneup, problem goes away for awhile.)

I explain to the guy the situation and exactly what service I wanted performed. He calls me at home the next day, and is LITERALLY berating me for not having the head gasket replaced, and while I'm at it and got the head off, let's do the timing belt, you're car's a timebomb, yada yada...

I was pissed-he was trying to coerce me into a job that would cost about 1400 dollars and the stupid car isn't even worth that! I tried to explain that I really don't care if the car breaks down-I've got a cellphone, AAA, another car, etc

He keeps insisting and actually infers that he WON'T LET ME DRIVE THE CAR OFF HIS LOT UNLESS THESE IMPORTANT SAFETY ISSUES ARE RESOLVED!!

I finally hang up on him, grab a friend and go to the dealership, get a manager, explain (turns out this yahoo went to lunch, so he wasn't there), and I end up with a free tuneup.

Jesus that guy was a dick! Just do what I ask please-you may suggest other work if you find other problems (and I appreciate that) but it is MY car, and MY decision.

OK, rant over...plus I'm sure you're not like that guy...

Sometime you have someone that puts the fear in ya. I just advise the customer of whats needed and they decline it,you just mark on the repair order they declined advised work, and when it comes back in for a problem that could have beed avoided you just show them when they denied the work,no problems then.

Some cars do need the timing belt done at certain intervals and if not done they can brak and bend valves and turn the $400 timing belt service into a $2000.00

cyl head replacement. The downside to the job is some of your pay is based on a commsion on labor hours sold. The dealership is there to make money and they

can't pay you by the hour because they figure you will just sqeak by and collect a paycheck. Oh well I am an honest one, that is why I left the last place I was at. They wanted me to slam everybody that came in and I had got to know some of these people and became friends with some. I'm going to a place I can be me again. ;)

That's cool. The auto sales and repair businesses could use more honest, reputable people. Some auto sales guys remind me of sleazy politicians! I understand about the bending valves, etc...but the car has so many other issues it just isn't worth it to fix anything on it as long as it keeps running!

And when it dies, I'll buy a new car. I think I'm gonna bite the macho bullet and get a minivan...Me and the Chick have a 3-year old and she has a 10 yr old daughter from another time and place, so we could probably use the stuff-lugging capability of a minivan.

Maybe I could put a booming system in it, tint the windows, lower it, get some Momos for it, put an exhaust tip on it...ok, now that's just silly... :D

I know but I'm not 21 anymore...I don't get the fast/furious crowd anyhoo...those giant spoilers look SO ridiculous! Plus, they take a basic car like a Civic or Integra, overwork the engine to the point of implosion-why not just buy a WRX? It's DESIGNED to be a fast car!?!?

I do think a tricked out minivan would be kinda cool...at least the kids won't be embarrased to be seen in it! :D

I'm a senior Validation Engineer for a vaccine manufacturing company. I test and document that the equipment used to make drugs and vaccines is what it's supposed to be, and does what it's supposed to do so the drugs are right and safe.

straycat... i got out of the sales business about 2 years ago... i was a used car salesman <dodging miscellanious items thrown at my head!!> and it was a great job, half the time... there is a lot of dirty salesman, but its a job where you need to be that way... if i could lie (or at least not have such a big conscience), i would do a whole lot better job... but i can't!! Lets put it this way, the more you like your salesman, the harder their fucking you!!! and i'm not kidding, its the assholes and the hardnosed internet freaks that i dispised getting, b/c it was a nothing deal...

anyway, i work in a data entry position now as a temp, but i hope to get hired on this month or next b/c a spot just opened up... thats why i'm on here so much, b/c the work comes in randomly and we can screw around while we are waiting for more work to come through...

i have had many classes w/ visual basic and i learned programming a little w/ the most basic (q basic) but i need to go back to school... probably get an information systems degree... eventually :D

Yep I know you have to stretch the truth at times. The place I was at was really bad, certified cars that didn't really meet the requirements. Plus there was a case of identity theft inside the store and it pretty much got swept under the mat and the victim got bounced across the street to a sister store and was not allowed on our lot. :(

I'm sure you get teased about it publicly and praised about it privately...what a job! I guess you see some sick shit though for real. Well, I'm glad there's guys like you doing what you do, because when I want to look at porn, I just want to see naked women. Nothing more. Nothing less. None of that shit eating, pissing, animal love crap. Shit's disgusting...and scarier still is that it wouldn't be out there if some sick shithead didn't get his rocks off on that garbage... <_<

well... I work for T-Mobile USA, I have been there a little under two years, i had never worked for anyone for more than 5-6 months before this, i have always been self employeed, I also own my own Graphic design and printing company, i outsourse all print work and just do design myself and with a few friends now an then. I will be launching a web design and hosting portion once i move into a house and out of this apartment and cant get a T3 or faster connection installed for my server(s).

I basically sell cell phones over in colerain across from the mall, i also do marketing and advertising crap for the whole cincinnati and dayton markets, if you get reach magazine or super shopper we had a full page corporate ad last Xmas and in the summer edition, i design that, also if you have seen any of the 4 x 6 post cards or ticket type cards at newport or anywhere in cincinnati for t-mobile, i did those too. I used to work at the dayton mall location, i am really tired of sales, i am tired of working with shady customers awlays trying to get over on you, and complain that thier bill is too high because they are too stupid to not go over minutes, its pretty degrading at times but i get to work with some of the funniest devices on the market, and i get like $250 worth of cell phone crap and nationwide internet and yadday yadda for me and my family for like $35/month. T-Mobile is one of the best companies to work for, I make far more money than i should, most reps make $35k-45k, elite reps make $75k-ish... im in the middle somewhere, i just moved in with my fiance, she wants to ahve a baby, thats possibly the scariest thing i have ever contemplated doing... i just cant bring myself to start trying, ... she is baby crzy like you couldnt beleive... i hear about it ATLEAST 2-3 times a day...

cripes..

i will soon be an assistnat manager over near tri county if my interview goes well tomorrow, it would be the same pay basically but more of it would be garaunteed salary instead of counting so much on commission....

commission is great....at cmas and summer...garbage the rest of the year...

so you know that hot chick that convinces all those toads to switch to T-Mobile on the TV ads?

seriously, did you fuck her?  :D

haha, catherine zeta jones (sp?)... no, i did meet her in florida, last april i won some award for good sales from '03, flew me and fiance (and 400 others from across the country) to miami at the loews miami beach hotel, all paid, first class flights, the whole deal, nokia sponsored it, gave us free $400 phones, just gave us tons of stuff, the last night, at the big dinner, she was there, took pictures and met everyone, .. she is in a TON of movies, t mobile paid her a fuckload of cash for her services... a-fuck-load... somewhere like 140 million, its insane... but i went home and didthe math of the 16 million customers we have in the us multiplied by the average bill of $58.. and uh, thats less than 1 month of income for the 5 year deal with her....

soooo... if anyone needs a cell phone... ill hook you up..

any got t-mobile? i may be able to "adjust" your bill in your favor B)

creechnasty has paid like 4 bills total in almost two years...maybe 5...
